Nokia 2 to get Android 8.1 Oreo update directly, will include memory management features

HMD Global’s Chief product officer Juho Sarvikas‏ has confirmed that Nokia 2 will get Android 8.1 Oreo update directly skipping 8.0 update. He hasn’t given any time frame but said that most of the Android 8.1 features would be available, including the memory management improvements, which is needed since the phone has only 1GB of RAM. Moto G5S Plus gets a permanent price cut in India, now available for Rs. 14999

Last week Motorola announced a temporary price cut for several smartphones online and offline for the festive season, including the Moto G5S Plus. Google stops selling Pixel C tablet, to focus on Pixelbook

After selling the tablet for more than two-years, Google has silently dropped the Pixel C tablet from its Google Store to focus on Pixelbook entirely. The Pixel C went on for sale in December 2015 for a price of $499 for the base model. YouTube app for Amazon Fire TV deactivated, redirects users to Silk and Firefox browsers

Samsung teases launch of new Galaxy smartphone exclusively on Amazon India

Samsung is all set to launch a new Galaxy smartphone in India soon. It will be launched exclusively on Amazon.in soon. The page has several hints about the phone such as “On for a New Way To Shop?”, “On for a Superior Performance?” and “On for a Stunning New Look?” without revealing the name of the smartphone, but this reveals it will be an ‘On series’ smartphone, so it could be On5 or On7 2017 model.

Reliance Jio to acquire RCOM’s wireless infrastructure assets

Reliance Jio today announced signing of definitive agreement for the acquisition of specified assets of Reliance Communications (RCOM) and its affiliates that includes Wireless Spectrum, Tower, Fiber and Media Convergence Node (MCN) assets as a part of RCOM’s debt reduction. This will contribute significantly to the large scale roll-out of wireless and Fiber to Home and Enterprise services by RJIL.

Xiaomi Mi A1 Android Oreo Beta adds fast charging, latest update brings January 2018 Android security patch

Xiaomi rolled out  Android 8.0 Oreo beta update for testers a couple of weeks back. There were reports that the update added support for fast charging. We were able to test the latest Beta ROM in our unit and can confirm that it indeed brings fast charging support for the phone. This works only when you use a fast charger and not with the bundled charger that has output of only 5V-2A.

OnePlus 5T OxygenOS 4.7.6 update brings camera optimization, assistive lighting for face unlock and more

OnePlus 5T has received a new OxygenOS update to version 4.7.6, few weeks after the OxygenOS 4.7.4 update that brought several improvements. The latest update brings Camera Optimizations that includes better quality for selfie in low light, performance improvements for 3rd party camera apps and also adds assistive lighting for face unlock that can be enabled from the face unlock settings. Check out the complete changelog below.

Nokia 1 Android Oreo (Go Edition) smartphone said to arrive in March 2018

HMD Global launched the entry-level Nokia 2 smartphone recently with a 4000mAh battery, but it chose to go with the Snapdragon 212 SoC and 1GB of RAM that doesn’t offer the best performance.  Now Eldar Murtazin of Mobile-Review who was once popular for Nokia leaks says that Nokia is planning to introduce Nokia 1, another entry-level Android smartphone next year, but this time it is rumored to partner with Google for the Android Oreo (Go edition) that will be based on Android 8.1 (Oreo). Honor View 10 registration begins on Amazon in India ahead of January launch

Huawei’s Honor brand introduced the Honor View 10 smartphone at an event in London earlier this month and also said that it will roll out in several countries including India from January. Today it has started registrations for the smartphone on Amazon.in ahead of the launch next month. Currently there is just ‘Notify me’ option on the site, but we should know the sale date soon.
