Update: July 22, 2019: Vivo has officially sent out invite for the launch of new ‘S series’ phone in India on August 7th. Even though the invite doesn’t confirm the name, commercial featuring Sara Ali Khan confirms it is the Vivo S1 that is launching next month.

After the Z5x announcement in May, Vivo is all set to introduce the Z5 smartphone in China on July 31st. Official images confirm waterdrop notch display, triple rear cameras with a 48-megapixel primary camera, and an in-display fingerprint sensor. Recently a Vivo phone with the model number V1921A a similar design got certified by TENAA that reveals complete specifications of the phone.

We already know Xiaomi is working on a new smartphone with a 64MP sensor. Today the company has posted the first camera sample from the smartphone, which shows the details it captures that is clear even when you zoom in. Redmi General Manager, Lu Weibing has also posted a screenshot of the camera UI that shows the 64MP mode, similar to the 48MP option on its phones which support it.

Reliance Jio has reported Rs. 11679 crore revenue, up 5.2 % QoQ and 44% YoY and a net profit of 891 crore, up 6.1% QoQ and 45.6% YoY for its eigth quarterly financial performance for the period that ended 30th June
2019. Jio reported Standalone earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of 4,686 crore, up 8.2% QoQ, EBITDA margin of 40.1%, and Standalone earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) of 3,029 crore, up 17.2% QoQ . ASUS is all set to introduce the ROG Phone II, the company’s second-generation gaming smartphone in China on July 23rd. It also confirmed 120Hz display and Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC for the smartphone. Now the phone has been certified by TENAA with the model numbers ASUS_I001DA and ASUS_I001DB confirming all the specifications of the phone including a 6.59-inch FHD+ OLED screen, up to 12GB RAM and up to 1TB storage, 48-megapixel rear camera and a 24-megapixel front camera. The image shows a secondary rear camera, but the camera details are not mentioned.

OPPO just launched OPPO K3, successor of OPPO K1 that was launched back in February. It packs a 6.5-inch FHD+ AMOLED display from Samsung with 91.1% screen-to-body ratio, DC dimming, next-gen in-display fingerprint scanner that is 28.5% faster with 10% success rate in unlocking, is powered by Snapdragon 710 with up to 8GB of RAM, GameBoost 2.0, runs Android Pie with Color OS 6.0 on top, features a 16-megapixel rear camera along with a 2-megapixel secondary camera. Black Shark introduced its ‘Black Shark 2’ gaming smartphone with Snapdragon 855, Liquid Cooling 3.0 earlier this year and also launched it in India recently. The successor to the Black Shark 2 is now in the news as earlier today, the company revealed that the new Black Shark 2 Pro gaming phone will be announced on July 30, 2019.

Xiaomi’s Redmi brand today introduced new 10,000mAh and 20,000mAh power banks with USB Type-C and micro USB inputs, as well as two USB Type-A output. Both these feature a polycarbonate body, feature a button on the side to view the charge left using LED indicators. It also lets you enable low-power mode that can be activated by pressing the button twice, to charge devices like Mi Band and Mi Bluetooth headset.

After the S1 smartphone that was introduced in Indonesia earlier this week, Vivo has introduced Y7s for China, which has a 16-megapixel front camera instead of 32-megapixel camera and has 6GB of RAM. Other features including a 6.39-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with about 90% screen-to-body ratio, MediaTek Helio P65 12nm SoC, 16MP primary sensor with f/1.78 aperture, 8MP ultrawide sensor and an 2MP depth sensor. The European Commission has issued an antitrust fine of 242 million Euros ($USD 272 million) on Qualcomm for engaging in “predatory pricing”. The Commission opened its formal investigation on 16 July 2015 and the fine has been issued as Qualcomm abused its market dominance in 3G baseband chipsets with the aim of forcing its competitor ‘Icera’ out of the market.
