Google Drive is a great way to store and backup your files online, both on the desktop and mobile. However, it can be argued that the files are not the most secure, as someone who gains access to the account can access all the cloud stored files. That may change soon as an APK teardown has revealed that Google is working on support file encryption and decryption natively in Drive.

Apple MacOS Big Sur roll out slated for November 12

During their “One More Thing” event held yesterday, Apple finally announced a release date for their newest MacOS Big Sur update – November 12, 2020. The update, which was first introduced MacOS Big Sur during a previous event back in June, 2020, and brings many new changes such as a new interface and UI, lots of new features and performance improvements.

Apple introduces M1 5nm Octa-Core SoC for the Mac

Apple just announced M1, the company’s first ARM-based SoC, also known as Apple Silicon designed specifically for the Mac, as expected. The company says that it is the most powerful chip it has ever created. It is the first chip for the PC to be built on 5-nanometer process technology, and has 16 billion transistors, the most Apple has ever put into a chip. MediaTek Dimensity 700 7nm 5G SoC for smartphones, MT8192 7nm and MT8195 6nm SoCs for Chromebooks announced

MediaTek just announced Dimensity 700, the company’s latest mid-range SoC with built-in 5G months after the Dimensity 720. It has two Cortex-A76 cores operating up to 2.2GHz and six power-efficient ARM Cortex-A55 cores operating at up to 2.0GHz. The MediaTek 5G UltraSave technology uses both network and content awareness intelligence to manage the modem’s operating mode in real-time to extend battery life. HUAWEI may sell HONOR smartphone business to Shenzhen govt, others for $15 billion

HUAWEI will sell its HONOR smartphone business to a consortium led by Digital China, a handset distributor and Shenzhen government for about 100 billion yuan ($15.2 billion approx.), according to a new Reuters report. The all-cash sale will include almost all assets including 7,000 staff, R&D capabilities and supply chain management, adds the report. Apple halts future Pegatron Corp iPhone assembly due to labour violation

One of Apple’s iPhone supplier, Pegatron Corp. in China was discovered to be in violation of Apple’s Supplier Code of Conduct and hence, Apple has halted their contracts with the supplier until corrective measures were taken.
