HTC One X – HTC’s next big thing?

I remember seeing the HTC One X for the first time in Barcelona at Mobile World Congress, announced from Peter Chou himself. I was a little bit confused at first. This announcement didn’t exactly sound like HTC. New materials, new tech, new direction. I was surprised and I gotta say, HTC did a nice job in keeping their word. The One X felt so different from the rest of their smartphones, which all kinda looked the same. Fast forward and here’s me, sitting with my own One X, yes I have indeed purchased one. My colour of choice was white, as it just looks extremely charming. Our full review of the HTC One X is already up, so I wanted to take some time and let you know about my personal experiences with HTC’s flagship Android smartphone!

Lava XOLO X900 Review

Intel had been one of the earliest players in the mobile chip sphere with its Xscale line of processors for PDAs. Having sold the division to Marvell in 2006 , the company had for all practical purposes ditched mobile computing.

Then came their effort with Moorestown , based on the Lincroft system-on-a-chip with an Atom processor core, Langwell input / output Platform Controller Hub(I/O PCH), and a Briertown Power Management IC. However due to the lack of proper power management , video encoding and decoding among others meant that the SoC was not feasible for deployment in a phone. What it did lead to is the Medfield processor. This is a true x86 processor chip which will shipping in a number of devices by the end of 2012. Read on for our review on the first phone running Intel’s Medfield processor. Continue reading “Lava XOLO X900 Review”

HTC One V Review

No it is not fair to call HTC One V, a sibling of HTC One X. Look wise they are very different. One look at the picture of the phone (see pics) and you’ll agree – HTC One V belongs more to the HTC Hero clan. It is far- far away from the beauty of One X. But why would HTC launch a phone that looks so old, with such a fabulous and new ‘One’ collection? HTC One V is the least priced phone to offer the latest version of Android 4.0, and HTC’s new sense – version 4.0. Continue reading “HTC One V Review”

BlackBerry Curve 9220 Review

RIM has been in the limelight due to their struggle to get compelling products out of the door in the recent years. While they lack anything particularly interesting in the high end segment , the Curve series of devices have been doing exceptionally well in developing markets like India and South East Asia.

The legendary Curve 8520 which still sells well in India has been long due for an update. Right on cue comes the Curve 9220. Faster , better built and bringing in a bunch of new features , the 9220 improves on the formula instead of being a huge departure from the mantra which made the 8520 a success.  Continue reading “BlackBerry Curve 9220 Review”

Review : Micromax Funbook

Every once in a while comes a product which shatters the barriers of price and expectations. The Micromax Funbook might not be perfect but it might be the one which helps bring tablet computing to the masses.

On the face of it , you might think that the Micromax Funbook is yet another low priced , low quality Chinese tablet owing to the ridiculously low price point. However a closer look reveals that the company has made some smart decision to create a platform which packs in a potent mix of content and hardware while offering just enough power for a good experience without going overboard and pushing up prices. Sony Xperia S review – a new beginning?

Sony Ericsson has always been a mixed bag of nuts for me. I appreciate the company’s tries to bring in different new features, and extend the capabilities of Android. However, at the end of the day, I was always left with the feeling that they didn’t give their best, and didn’t quite think it through. From the terribly slow X10 (at least at the time I have had it), to the Xperia Arc, which was one of the most horribly built devices I have ever tried. Anyways, Ericsson is gone now, and Sony is ready to start into a new future, with the Xperia S the first incarnation of the company’s rebrand.

I have been trying the Sony Xperia S for a good 2 weeks now, trying to see if Sony can impress me. The spec sheet reads very nice: 4,3″ 720p HD display, a Qualcomm MSM8260 Snapdragon dual core processor with 1,5 GHz and Adreno 220 GPU, 1GB RAM, 32GB memory, a 12 Megapixel camera with  Exmor R sensor and 1080p video at 30fps, all wrapped in a plastic body with a special Nano coating. So, the specs are there, so let’s see if it’s any good.

First Nokia Lumia Windows Phone Impressions From A February 2011 Believer

Warning: this post is subjective, the most subjective you will ever find. I am writing it for the many readers who understand that and who still want to hear my opinion regardless of whether or not they agree. If you want to bash, build conspiracy theories, point your finger and say that I’m a Nokia hater or a Nokia lover, I’ll save you the trouble and tell you beforehand that you won’t change my mind and that I am both: I love them so much I ended up hating them two years ago. Otherwise, read on.
