MWC 2011 : Windows Event Summary

Microsoft at Mobile World Congress 2011 spoke about the upcoming updated to their Windows Phone 7 operating system. Starting March 2011 , Microsoft plans to bring out a series of software updates which will make the operating system competitive with Android and the Apple iPhone.

Copy and paste functionality via first major update, coming in the next month
Twitter integration directly into the People Hub in 2011
Support for Office documents in the cloud in 2011
Dramatically enhanced Web browser experience based on IE9 in 2011
A new wave of multitasking applications in 2011
Targeting significant volume of Nokia Windows Phones in 2012

Nokia’s partnership with Microsoft will result in bringing Navteq sourced maps to both WP7 as well as Bing Maps. Microsoft also demoed their upcoming integration with the Kinect gaming system. Watch our video from the event below.

MWC 2011 : Nokia WP7 Concept Previewed

Like we had already posted , Nokia’s Windows Phone 7 based concept phone renders got leaked earlier this week. Today at the Nokia event we got confirmation from Jo Harlow that these concepts were a culmination of two months of combined work by Nokia’s hardware engineers and Microsoft’s software engineers.

Nokia Windows Phone 7 concept phone looks bitter sweet !

ViewSonic has already given a sneak peek even before the start of the MWC 2011. Nokia N9 Not Killed – Might Come with Windows 7

The news that Nokia’s first MeeGo device, the Nokia N9 has been cancelled is making the headlines all round. But we didn’t post about it because we knew something else was happening. Now it seems that the handset itself hasn’t been canned, the operating system has now been changed from MeeGo to Windows Phone 7.

HTC 7 Pro launched in UK

HTC 7 Pro is now available for 360 pounds(£432 inc. vat) in UK. The handset features a 3.7 inch WVGA display, with a tilting screen and a slide-out keyboard QWERTY keyboard. It is powered by a 1GHz processor, and comes with a Wi-Fi, 3G and a built-in 5-megapixel camera with auto focus and flash.
