on February 10, 2011 – 4:30 pmOne Comment

Rumours have been going around that Nokia and Microsoft are coming together into a partnership to combat Google’s Android OS and Apple’s iPhone.

The news has been confirmed by an insider who stated that Nokia’s CEO Stephen Elop was in talks with Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer about putting Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system on Nokia phones.

It seems Stephen Elop also had talks with Eric Schmidt about using Android on Nokia phones however the insider states that it is unlikely to happen.

Another suggestion of such partnership is the email sent by Elop to employees describing Nokia’s current condition and how he wishes to radically change and improve Nokia’s strategy.

Stephen Elop will unveil Nokia’s new strategy at Nokia Capital Market’s Day in London tomorrow. Let’s wait and see what changes Stephen Elop brings in for Nokia.
