Sony Ericsson has launched a barometric sensor app for the Xperia active and also a new code example so that developers can access this sensor in apps by accessing it through the Android sensor API. This app would let the Xperia Active users measure altitude differences and vertical speed. They already provided instructions and codes on how to create a simple app that could read data from the pressure sensor. Android 4.0 was launched and announced in October and the first device to feature it was Google’s own Galaxy Nexus, and in December Nexus S got an upgrade to Android 4.0. Besides these two devices there are some other devices from other manufacturers running Ice Cream Sandwich unofficially through custom ROMs, through Google’s monthly report we have come to know that 0.6% of all the devices are running Android 4.0 which actually means that around 13 million to 15 million devices are running Andriod 4.0.

Windows phone is not very popular, but we all know that Nokia has taken up Windows Phone as it’s primary O.S and marketed the Lumia 800, their first Windows Phone without any boundaries. From deadmau5 concerts in London to free Xbox, Lumia taxis in India. We can see that Nokia is serious about these devices and are trying to make Windows Phone popular, well the Nokia Lumia 900 is on it’s way to U.S and will be the first flagship device to enter the American shores after many years of absence in the American market.

Nexus S received the Android 4.0 update a few weeks back though not all the features of ICS were available in the Nexus S update and one of the feature was Face unlock and the the main reason behind that was the VGA front camera. Many of the Nexus S users were really upset about the decision taken by Google, but the developer community is always there to look out for all the consumers and now this time they have taken the official update and have embedded face unlock into it.

We take a look at the WiFi version of the Aakash tablet also known as the UbiSlate 7. It was available for pre-order for Rs.2499 and those who had placed the order are finally receiving the device.The device is powered by a Arm11 – 366Mhz CPU and is not the fastest tablet out there but the price tag is pretty impressive. If you covert the pricing to USD it costs around 47 USD approximately which makes it one of the cheapest tablets in the world and carries the Made in India tag ! Asus has officially announced on their Facebook Page that the Asus Transformer Prime would receive the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update Over the Air (OTA) start January 12th 2012 worldwide. They are also developing an unlock tool for the modding community who would like to have the bootloader unlocked. The warranty of the device will be void once the bootloader is unlocked and Google video rental and other DRM service would also be unavailable. Samsung has launched the Galaxy M Style, new entry-level Android smartphone in Korea. It comes with 4-inch ( 640 × 480 pixels) capacitive super AMOLED touch screen display. It is powered by 1GHz single core processor and runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). It is just 9.9 mm thick with metal body and comes with a 3MP camera with secondary camera and 4GB internal memory with expandable memory up to 32GB. Samsung has launched Wave Y in India that runs on bada 2.0 OS. They announced the Wave Y last August along with Wave 3 and Wave M. It comes with a 3.2 inch (320 x 480 pixels) TFT LCD display and is powered by 832MHz processor. It features 2 MP Full focus camera. It is 12.3 mm thick and weighs 102.4g. Bookings for the Aakash tablet has reached 14 lakh in just 2 weeks after the bookings opened last month, according a report from Economic Times. The UbiSlate 7 (upgraded Aakash tablet) has been renamed to UbiSlate 7+ recently. The UbiSlate 7+ (Aakash2 tablet) is also sold out on their official site till February, however you can book it for March. Spice has launched another Dual SIM Android phone, Spice Mi-280 in India. This has 2.8 inch capacitive touchscreen, 3.2MP camera and VGA front camera. It is powered by 600MHz processor and runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). It also comes with 5-way key and touch navigation button. It is the successor of Spice Mi-270, Dual SIM Android phone that was launched last year. They also launched another Dual SIM Android phone, Mi-350n recently. The display panel that you see in the picture above might be the much rumored retina display for the Apple iPad 3. There seems to be a change in the cable ribbon arrangement to support higher powered displays.
