After Asus Padfone Infinity that was launched at MWC 2013 earlier this year, Asus is back with the Padfone mini, a small version of the Padfone with a smaller docking station. Asus has sent out press invites to media outlets for the Padfone mini launch on December 11th in Taipei, Taiwan. The small docking station to dock the Padfone mini is expected to pack a 7-inch screen and is likely to come with a built-in battery, similar to the original Padfone station. Smartphone photography is the next big thing and Google is taking note of all the troubles faced by Nexus 5 users. In an update aimed at squashing all those bugs, Google has started rolling out the Android 4.4.1 update for Nexus 5 users. David Burke, Director of Engineering for Android at Google, says that the update can be classified in five categories. Autofocus related fixes form the first part of that. Burke says that the team has sped up the read time for surrounding imagery to gauge the surroundings and to set up the image capture algorithms accordingly. Hence the autofocus mechanism will trigger quicker, the images will be captured faster. There have also been improvements on the exposure and white balance front. Nokia understood that massive business opportunity few years back and before the competition, launched Nokia OVI Music services globally and in India. Back then Nokia was the only mobile manufacturer invested heavily in Entertainment and Music services in India. Samsung had big plans for its yesteryear flagships – Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 when it announced that both phones will be skipping Android 4.2.2 update and will be directly updated to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The big plan seemed to go well for the South Korean electronics giant as it released the Android 4.3 update for Galaxy S3 right on time, but only to be halted later because of performance issues.

The Oppo N1 is all set to be globally available starting December 10th, which is just 5 days away but as you might have known by now, we have been playing around with the device for some time now. One of the highlights of this phone is its camera, which is a 13 MP unit sitting on a swiveling unit. The Sony EXMOR RS 13 MP sensor is a 1/3.06″ unit, atop which sits the six-element lens, one of the firsts on any Android device. The six element lens has a wide aperture of f2.0, combine that and the new custom algorithms Oppo has developed for the N1, the results aim to be delectable for the user. Well, is it? It has a 7-inch 16:10 Full HD (1920 x 1200 WUXGA) display with 10-finger multi-touch, powered by a Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro (APQ8064-1AA, with Krait 300 cores) processor clocked at 1.5GHz and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean), which already got the KitKat update. Samsung has launched the Galaxy S Duos 2, the company’s latest smartphone in the Galaxy series in India officially. It went on sale last week, and packs a 4.0-inch WVGA(480×800 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. It comes with Dual SIM support with Dual SIM always-on feature and packs a 1500mAh battery with up to 8 hours of talk time.

Epson has announced that their printers now support mobile printing on the new Amazon’s new Kindle Fire tablets running on the latest Fire OS version 3.1. These include the new Kindle Fire HD, Kindle Fire HDX 7-inch and 8.9-inch tablets. Sadly the latest Kindle Fire tablets are not available in the Indian market yet. Xolo Play Tegra Note was expected to launch in India in October, but it didn’t happen. Now the Tegra 4-powered 7-inch Android tablet has appeared on Flipkart. This is a re-branded Tegra Note tablet that was announced back in September and Xolo was announced as a partner for India launch. It has a 7-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) IPS display with support for NVIDIA DirectStylus technology and also comes with a stylus pen. It is powered by a 1.8 GHz quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 4 CPU and runs Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean).

Yota Devices has finally launched the YotaPhone at an event in Russia as we reported recently. The YotaPhone is priced at 499 Euros in Europe and costs 19,980 Rubles in Russia. The company showed off the phone with dual screens at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona earlier this year. It has 4.3-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) LCD capacitive multi touch main screen and a 4.3-inch (360×640 pixels) E-Ink rear screen. It is powered by a 1.7 GHz Dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM 8960 processor and runs on Android 4.2.2 ( Jelly Bean).
