It packs a 6.44-inch 1080p 2.5D curved glass display with 0.7mm ultra narrow bezel on the side, Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and has a huge 5300mAh battery with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 along with parallel charging that lets you charge the phone up to 68% in one hour. Details about Redmi 5 surfaced last week. Now promo images for the upcoming Mi 5X has surfaced in China. This reveals the smartphone with a unibody metal design and dual rear cameras with optical zoom and dual-tone LED flash that coincides with the image that had surfaced earlier.
Xiaomi Redmi 5, successor of last year’s Redmi 4 has surfaced in renders that also reveals the specifications and price. Similar to the Redmi 4, the Redmi 5 is also said to come in two different versions with Snapdragon 625 or 630 Mobile Platform. It is expected to come wiht an improved 16-megapixel rear camera, run Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) based MIUI 9, but is said to come with a slightly smaller 3680mAh battery compared to 4000mAh battery. Xiaomi just sent out invites for the launch of its next Mi smartphone in India on July 18th. The invite says “Last year, we made ripples with this new category and now it is back. Join us in witnessing the return on ‘BIG’ at Xiaomi media briefing” that clearly hints at the launch of Mi Max 2, successor of last year’s Mi Max.
Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun today announced that Xiaomi has shipped 23.16 million smartphones in Q2 2017, up 70% from the previous quarter, which is a new record high for the company in a quarter. This comes after a slight decline in sales for a year. The company said that this was due to two instances of supply issues, each one hampering its chain for several months. Nokia and Chinese handset maker Xiaomi Technology have signed a multi-year patent licensing agreement. Xiaomi also acquired patent assets from Nokia as part of the transaction. The deal also includes a cross license to each company’s cellular standard essential patents.

Xiaomi has achieved a new milestone by opening its 500th authorized service center in India in Bengaluru. With this, Xiaomi will provide an enhanced after sales service experience. Earlier this year it partnered with B2X, leading provider of customer care for smartphones for after sales service in India. At that time it had only 200 service centers across the country. Xiaomi’s service centers are now in 350 cities in 3 years since the company entered India.
Xiaomi has partnered with Reliance Jio to offer up to 30GB free 4G data on select smartphones.
