Xiaomi today launched Mi A1, the company’s latest smartphone in the new ‘A series’ at a global event in New Delhi, as it had promised. It is the global variant of the Mi 5X that was introduced in China back in July, but this is an Android One phone created in partnership with Google running stock Android based on Android 7.1 (Nougat) and it will get Android 8.0 (Oreo) by 2017. It will also be one of the first phones to get Android P. Xiaomi said that Mi Camera, Mi Remote and Mi Store apps will be pre-installed. Earlier this week Xiaomi announced a launch event in New Delhi on September 5th to introduce a new flagship dual camera smartphone. Today the company said that the smartphone will be available in India exclusively on Flipkart. It also engaged in a twitter conversation today with celebrities Parineeti Chopra, Daboo Ratnani, Ayushman Khurana and Hardik Pandeya.

Xiaomi today announced that it has sold 25 million smartphones in India since it entered the country in July 2014 with the Mi 3. After several teasers, Xiaomi just announced that it will unveil Mi MIX 2, its second-generation flagship bezel-less smartphone at an event in China on September 11th. Xiaomi is calling it 2.0 bezel-less display, so it is expected to have minimal bezels. Xiaomi announced MIUI last month along with the Mi 5X smartphone. After closed beta for Mi 6 and Redmi Note 4X (Qualcomm) in China on July 27th, it released the public beta of China ROM for Mi 6, Mi 5X, and Redmi Note 4X (Qualcomm) on August 11th. As it had promised, in the second batch, it has released the ROM for 9 more smartphones last week.

After teasing the launch of new smartphone with dual rear cameras in India in September, Xiaomi today sent of invites for the launch of the smartphone in the country on September 5th at an event in New Delhi. The company says it will be Flagship Dual Camera smartphone, but it did not reveal the name of the phone yet. This will likely be the Mi 5X that was introduced in China last month.

Xiaomi just announced Redmi Note 5A, its latest budget smartphone as it had promised in two versions. Both the phones have a 5.5-inch HD screen and come with a 13-megapixel rear camera, but the standard version is powered by a Snapdragon 425 and has 2GB RAM, while the top-end version comes with Snapdragon 435 with 3GB or 4GB RAM, also has a 16-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash and a fingerprint sensor on the back. Today CEO Lei Jun confirmed that the phone will come with dedicated dual SIM slots along with a microSD card slot that accepts cards up to 128GB. Xiaomi opened India’s first Mi Home Store in Bengaluru back in May, which recorded whopping Rs. 5 crore in revenue in 12 hours on opening day. It already confirmed that it will open stores in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai. It even opened two new Mi Home Stores in Bengaluru last month.
