After the phone got certified by TENAA this week, Xiaomi today officially announced that it will introduce the Redmi Note 5A on August 21st, as rumored earlier. The phone is expected to come in two versions, both with unibody design, but only the high-end version is said to come with a fingerprint sensor and the entry-level version could just be a larger version of the Redmi 4A.

Xiaomi Redmi smartphones with model numbers MDT6 and MDT6S have been certified by TENAA in China. Both the phone have a 5.5-inch HD screen, come with a unibody design and pack a 3000mAh battery. The basic version is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core processor, which could be Snapdragon 425 and doesn’t have a fingerprint sensor like the Redmi 4A. It is rumored to be called the Redmi Note 5A. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 MIUI 8.5.4.0 Android 7.0 Nougat update starts rolling out in India

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 4 with Snapdragon 625 in India running MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) back in January earlier this year starting at Rs. 9999. Now the company has finally started rolling out Android 7.0 (Nougat) update for the smartphone along with the MIUI 8.5.4.0.NCFMIED OTA update as nightly build, which Xiaomi calls Beta Stable release before the final update. Xiaomi secures $1 billion loan for global retail expansion

Xiaomi has secured a whopping $1 billion loan to expand globally and increase its retail footprint. The Chinese smartphone maker has revealed that it has secured a three-year syndicated loan agreement from 18 banks across Europe, Middle East, India, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Deutsche Bank and Morgan Stanley served as joint global coordinator, with Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited, Deutsche Bank AG, and Wing Lung Bank.

When Xiaomi announced the Mi Max last year, nobody expected it to be particularly popular. The gigantic size was expected to be a deterrent but as it turns out, the phablet saw massive uptake amongst users. Serving as a good mid way ground between carrying smartphones and a tablet, the Mi Max delivered battery life, a large screen and a generally great experience in a well priced package. One year on, Xiaomi is back with the Mi Max 2. With a bigger battery in roughly the same sized package, the Mi Max 2 is already looking quite exciting but is it worth an upgrade?
