LG’s Q2 2020 profits down 24.1% YoY, Mobile losses continue

LG Electronics has reported revenues of 12.83 trillion won (US$ 10.51 billion) for the second quarter that ended June 30, 2020, which is down 17.9% compared to the same quarter last year. It posted profits of 495.4 billion won (US$ 405.65 million), down 24.1% YoY. “The resilient company managed its supply chain and cost structure to weather the storm of the global public health and economic crises,” said the company. LG VELVET with 6.8-inch FHD+ OLED display, Snapdragon 765 5G starts rolling out in the US

LG unveiled its LG VELVET smartphone back in May in an online event and it started rolling out in South Korea from May 15th. Now it has announced the roll out of the phone in the US at $599 (Rs. 44,660 approx.) from AT&T beginning today, July 22. It will be available from T-Mobile and Verizon later this summer.  LG VELVET 5G UW with access to its 5G Ultra Wideband network and 5G low-band network will be available from Verizon later this year. LG rolls out 48-inch CX 4K OLED TV in select Asian and European countries

LG Q61 with 6.5-inch FHD+ Display, 48MP quad rear cameras, military-level durability announced

LG has announced Q61, the company’s latest smartphone in the Q series in Korea. It was introduced for the global markets as K61 back in February this year. LG already confirmed that LG VELVET on May 7th in an online event and also confirmed the specifications of the smartphone. Today the company has confirmed that the phone will be sold in South Korea 899,800 won (US$ 734 / Rs. 55,780 approx.) starting from May 15th and will start pre-orders from 8th to 14th May. LG Mobile losses continue in Q1 2020 despite 88% jump in overall profits; expects sales decline in Q2 due to COVID-19

LG Electronics has reported revenues of 14.73 trillion won (US$ 12.45 billion) for the fourth quarter that ended March 31, 2020, which is down 1.25% compared to the same quarter last year. It posted profits of 1.09 billion won (US$ 921.47 million), up 21% YoY, making this only the second time in history when quarterly operating profit exceeded KRW 1 trillion, while net profit was up 88% YoY to 1086.7 billion won (US$ 717 billion). The 7.4 percent operating margin was the highest in LG’s history for a first quarter. This is due to strong performance in home appliance and TV businesses. LG already confirmed that it will introduce its first mid-range 5G smartphone – LG VELVET on May 7th in an online event. Today the company has revealed the specifications of the smartphone that includes a 6.8-inch 20.5: 9 aspect ratio Cinema FullVision FHD+ OLED display with Waterdrop Camera that houses a 16-megapixel camera, Snapdragon 765G with support for 5G, 8GB of RAM and a Waterdrop Camera that is a design in which 48MP main + 8MP ultra-wide + 5MP depth triple rear cameras and a flash are arranged in a vertical direction as if water droplets are falling. LG VELVET with Snapdragon 765, curved design, Raindrop triple rear cameras to be announced on May 7

LG has finally confirmed its VELVET smartphone in an online event in Korea on May 7th before it goes on sale mid-May. The company posted a  15-second video invitation that visually shows the colours of the phone using four colour drops highlighting the ‘waterdrop camera’.
