LG Folder 2 4G dual-screen flip phone with SOS key, AI Voice Service announced

LG has announced Folder 2, the company’s latest Android flip phone and the successor of the first Folder that was introduced back in 2018. It has a 2.8-inch QVGA screen when you flip open and there is also a 0.9-inch mono screen on the front to quickly view notifications such as text messages, calls, time, battery life and signal status. The phone also has T9 keypad along with SOS Key on the back that lets you call a preregistered number by pressing three times quickly within 1.5 seconds. LG’s upcoming smartphone will feature new design with front-back symmetrical curves, Raindrop camera [Update: LG VELVET]

Update: LG has confirmed that the phone will be called ‘LG VELVET’ that will emphasize distinctive designs and “tactile” elegance to set itself apart. It will be the first LG device to implement the company’s new branding strategy for its mobile devices, moving away from alphanumerical designations in favor of familiar and expressive names. LG says that the name “velvet” is intended to evoke images of lustrous smoothness and premium softness, two key characteristics of the new phone.

LG Style3 with 6.1-inch Quad HD+ OLED display, Snapdragon 845, waterproof body announced

LG has silently introduced Style3 (L-41A), the company’s latest smartphone in Japan. It packs a 6.1-inch Quad HD+ OLED display, runs Android 10, comes with a 48-megapixel rear camera along with a 5-megapixel camera, rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, is water and dust proof with IP68 ratings along with Military grade durability and packs a 3500mAh battery, but it is powered by two year old Snapdragon 845 SoC. LG said to discontinue G series production; to introduce new ‘mass premium product’ soon

LG’s G series lineup of smartphones is popular for its camera capabilities and while the company introduced something new with every iteration like the swappable modules, the company received a lot of flak from consumers for their smartphone pricing strategy, at least in India. Now, according to fresh reports, LG is said to stop the production of G series and introduce a new ‘mass premium product’, in a bid to make a comeback in the market.

LG V60 ThinQ 5G with Snapdragon 865, 5000mAh battery US roll out begins this week, price revealed

LG introduced  V60 ThinQ 5G smartphone last month and it already said that it will roll out in North America, Europe and Asia starting from March. Now the company has announced that the smartphone will go on sale in the US through T-Mobile and AT&T starting from March 20th and from Verizon from March 26th. LG has introduced the V60 ThinQ 5G, successor of last year’s V50 ThinQ 5G. It is powered by  Snapdragon 865 with Snapdragon X55 5G Modem, is powered by a bigger 6.8-inch FHD+ OLED screen, has dual rear cameras with 13MP 117° super wide-angle, 64MP standard and a  time of flight (ToF) sensor array. It has an 10-megapixel front camera. The phone runs Android 10, features brand-new, high-performance microphones, Voice Bokeh, a feature that separates users’ voices from background noise, allowing content creators to place more focus on the subject while reducing excess noise. LG has announced Q51 (LM-Q510N), the company’s latest smartphone in the Q series in Korea. It packs a 6.5-inch HD+ FullVision display, is powered by MediaTek’s latest Helio P22 Octa-Core 12nm SoC with 3GB RAM, runs Android Pie, features 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 5-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor as well as 13-megapixel front camera. LG V60 ThinQ with quad rear cameras, 4-channel microphone, 5000mAh battery surfaces [Update: New image]

New press image of the phone has surfaced that shows a familiar design, thinner bezel, water drop notch, dedicated Google Assistant button and volume rockers on the left, power button on the right and a gold frame. It is expected to come with 5G support, powered by Snapdragon 865 Mobile Platform, 8GB of RAM. Since there is no MWC, it could be announced as early as next week.

LG K61, K51S and K41S with FullVision Display, quad rear cameras, military-level durability announced

LG has announced new K series smartphones that includes K61, K51S and K41S. The K61 features a 6.5 FHD+ FullVision Display and the K51S and K41S feature an 6.5-inch 20:9 HD+ FullVision Display. These feature quad-camera array consisting of a high-resolution main camera, wide angle lens, depth sensor and a macro lens, a first in the K series. The 48MP main lens in the top-of-the line K61 is the highest resolution camera ever offered in an LG smartphone while the 32MP camera in the K51S also surpasses the pixel count of any previous LG phone, said LG. LG cancels MWC 2020 event over coronavirus concerns [Update: ZTE will participate as planned]

Earlier this week GSMA that conducts Mobile World Congress (MWC) events every year announced that it continues to monitor and assess the potential impact of the Coronavirus and said that there is minimal impact on the event. It confirmed that MWC event will happen in Barcelona from 24 to 27, February 2020 as planned. It also said that it has implemented many measures to help to mitigate the spread of the virus and is continuing to add other actions regularly. Apple TV and Apple TV+ now rolling out to select 2019 LG TVs

The Apple TV+ app was announced in March of 2019, claiming that it will offer support on LG and other TV’s later in the future along with Airplay 2 support. Now with an OTA update, the Apple TV, Apple TV+ and Airplay 2 in now available on select 2019 LG TVs.

LG Q4 2019 losses widens on equity ties, sluggish smartphone sales

LG Electronics has reported revenues of 16.06 trillion won (US$ 13.65 billion) for the fourth quarter that ended December 31, 2019, which is up 2.3% compared to the same quarter last year. It posted profits of 101.8 billion won (US$ 86.5 million), up 26.1% YoY, while net profit was down 953% YoY to 849.8 billion won (US$ 717 billion). This is due to losses in its equity ties with LG display, in which it has 37.9% stake and sluggish smartphone sales. LG Display is said to post more than 1 trillion won in losses in 2019, according to analysts, and we should know the exact figures when it posts the results on Friday. LG G8X ThinQ Review: Is the phone with Dual Screen worth it?

After announcing the G8X ThinQ back in September 2019 at the IFA, the South Korean company has launched the flagship device in the Indian market in Aurora Black color at Rs. 49,999 bundled with LG Dual Screen accessory.

While we loved the LG V40 ThinQ, our expectation were sky-high for this device considering its dual display feature. In fact, the G8X has accomplished what LG has been trying to do for years — dual displays, for example V10 and V20.  Does this device from LG met our expectations?
