Apple has announced that John Giannandrea is named as the company’s executive team as senior vice president of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence Strategy. After reports, Apple has officially confirmed that some of its 2018 iPad Pros are shipping with a slightly bent in the aluminum chassis. According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Apple iPhone XR demand has been lower than expected. Kuo has slashed his overall iPhone shipment forecast by 20% for the first quarter of 2019. However, Kuo now expects Apple to move 38-42 million iPhones in the quarter, down from an original estimate of 47-52 million. After Qualcomm was granted a preliminary injunction to ban the sale and import of Apple iPhone 6s through iPhone X in China, Qualcomm now plans to file for an injunction on the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR in China. Apple has announced that it will set up a new campus in Austin with an investment of $1 billion. The company also announced plans to establish new sites in Seattle, San Diego, and Culver City and expand in cities across the United States including Pittsburgh, New York and Boulder, Colorado over the next three years.

We already know about the ongoing battle between Qualcomm and Apple. Qualcomm today announced that Fuzhou Intermediate People’s Court in China has granted two preliminary injunctions against four Chinese subsidiaries of Apple Inc., ordering them to immediately cease infringing upon two Qualcomm patents through the unlicensed importation, sale and offers for sale in China of the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. This doesn’t apply to new iPhone XS, XS Max and XR.
Though Apple is yet to announce the AirPower wireless charging mat, a recently published patent application from the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office offers some details on a security feature of the accessory. The patent describes that a unique ID will be used to protect data transmitted between AirPower and the devices it is charging. Apple has announced that 70% of eligible iPhones, iPod touch devices are running on iOS 12 as of December 3rd, 2018. The adoption rate is up 10% in just five weeks; as of October 29th, iOS 12 was installed on 63% on all eligible devices.
