Karbonn S2 Titanium went on pre-order online earlier this week. The phone is now available from online retailers Snapdeal, Infibeam and Saholic. It has a 5-inch FWVGA screen (854×480 pixels), powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It comes with a 8-megpixel auto-focus camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera similar to the S5 Titanium. It packs a 4.5-inch (960 x 540 pixels) capacitive touch screen IPS display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2.1 (Jelly Bean). It comes with a 12-megapixel auto focus rear camera with dual LED flash and a 3-megapixel front-facing camera. It also has dual microphones for noise reduction. The iBall Andi 5L went on sale last week and the Andi 5Li with Android 4.1 is expected to launch soon. Xolo is expected to launch the Q700 with a similar display, quad-core processor and Android 4.2 later this week. Google Nexus 7 32GB WiFi + 3G now available from Snapdeal for Rs. 21999


Google Nexus 7 16GB version went on sale in India from the Google Play Store back in March at a price tag of Rs. 15,999, and the 32GB version went on sale from the Google Play last month at Rs. 18,999. Asus launched the 32GB WiFi and 32GB 3G versions of the tablet in India last  month. The 3G version went on sale only from select retail shops such as Reliance, but it didn’t show up on Google Play. Now online retailer Snapdeal has started selling the Nexus 7 32GB WiFi + 3G version along with the 32 GB WiFi version. UC Web announces partnership with Trend Micro for in-browser mobile web safety assessment

Over at the Global Mobile Internet Conference, UCWeb has announced a new partnership with global internet security expert, Trend Micro. Under the agreement, both companies will work to provide mobile web safety assessments in the browser. The aim is provide a comprehensive safety net for users of the product via cloud based security scans in the browser and also for Android apps downloaded via the UC Web browser.

Trend Micro analyzes as much as 4.46TB of data every day and has identified 350,000 high risk Android applications. This number is further expected to grow by 400% to 1.4 million in 2013.

UC Web with a global userbase in excess of 400 million and with 200 million daily registered clicks aims to provide comprehensive cloud based security for its users through its partnership with Trend Micro. The technology in question is Trend Micro’s Application Reputation Service (MARS) that works with both websites and Android applications. The service has analyzed close to 3 million Android apps to date with about 560,000 of them being flagged as malicious. UC Web has added the feature to version 7.4 of its browser making it the world’s first ‘secure mobile browser’.Considering the browser’s popularity in developing markets, the move is a welcome addition.
