Microsoft has finally launched the Office app for Office 365 users using Android smartphones. Microsoft launched the Office Mobile for iPhone  back in June. This would let you open and edit Microsoft Office documets such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents. It also has support for charts, animations, SmartArt Graphics, and shapes just like the desktop app. You can open documents in the cloud on SkyDrive or SkyDrive Pro. You can edit and view documents offline but you need to be connected to the internet to save the changes on the cloud. Samsung denies benchmark boosting allegations, says it’s normal for most fullscreen apps

Just hours ago, we had seen how Samsung had boosted its benchmark scores for a favourable result in comparison to the competition. After all the brouhaha surrounding this issue, Samsung has spoken up, denying the allegations by saying that most full screen apps have the access to full GPU clock speed. That said, the vague response on the company’s Korean website doesn’t seem to explain what “Benchmark booster” actually means.

HTC officially launched the Desire 600 Dual SIM last week. We brought you the unboxing of the device earlier this week, here we have the benchmarks of the device. The phone is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 MSM8625Q processor with Adreno 203 GPU similar to the Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro and the Karbonn Titanium S5. It has a 4.5-inch super LCD2 display at a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels at 245 PPI pixel density and runs on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) with HTC Sense 5.0 UI. Let us find out how the phone performs in various benchmarks.

Oppo Find 5 receives an OTA update, new features and bug fixes aplenty

The Oppo Find 5 is one of the very few phones in the world to receive updates driven by the community. If you had read our review, you might have have noticed us mentioning the overwhelming community support the device gets. Yes, there is a robust feedback system that the company employs thanks to the limited availability and a responsive fan base. Considering the feedback, they released an OTA update earlier, with bug fixes mostly dominating the changelog, and similarly there is another update available now, but this time they have added quite a lot of feature, read past the break to find the changelog.

Android-powered home phone announced by Panasonic

Panasonic seems to have backed out of the smartphone race, but is now looking to bring back the home phones with its new Android powered home phone. The home phone will be running on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and will have a 3.5 inch HVGA display (320×480 pixels). Xiaomi introduces Hongmi smartphone with 4.7″ screen, Quad Core processor priced at $130

Popular China based smartphone manufacturer, Xiaomi, has today launched a brand new budget smartphone called Hongmi which translates to Red Rice. The phone brings relatively high end specifications including a quad core processor paired with 1GB of RAM. Next-gen Amazon Kindle Fire HD tablets rumored to feature high-res displays and Snapdragon 800 processor


Amazon announced the Kindle Fire HD 7-inch and 8.9-inch tablets back in September last year. These tablets were launched in India last month. Now rumors of the next-gen Kindle Fire HD tablets have surfaced. According to BGR, Amazon plans to launch 3 new tablets this year, a budget 7-inch tablet and two high-end tablets with 7-inch and 8.9-inch displays. Current Kindle Fire HD tablet have a dual-core OMAP chips, and the next-gen high-end Kindle Fire tablets are expected to pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. Oppo confirms new camera centric N-lens series of devices

We have already seen how the Oppo Find 5 had a great camera. If that wasn’t any indication how the Chinese company is serious about cameras, we have more information coming in. Oppo has just confirmed to Engadget on a previous scoop that they are indeed developing a new series of camera centric devices dubbed the “N-Lens”. These devices are more of connected cameras and less of cameraphones if the initial information is to be believed. But, the company also says that the N-Lens series of devices will be “most important flagship series for Oppo going forward.”

HTC officially launched the Desire 600 Dual SIM last week. Here we have the device for unboxing. It is the first phone from HTC with GSM support to feature Dual Active SIM support that allows you to have two SIM cards active all the times, enabling you to receive a call on first SIM, even if you are already using the other. Since this is a Dual SIM Active device you don’t need any setup like the Samsung’s Smart Dual SIM feature.

Viber, cross platform VOIP (Voice Over IP) app for Android has been updated to version 3.1 that brings new features including option to send doodles over photos or create drawings, new emoticons, option to see when a message have been viewed by the recipient, support for more languages and lots more. Viber for other mobile platforms go updated to version 3.0 back in May and Viber apps for PCs and Macs were launched. Sony has officially launched the Xperia Z Ultra, the company’s latest smartphones in the Xperia series. Sony unveiled the Z Ultra last month and it went on sale in India online last week. The Xperia Z Ultra has a 6.44-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Triluminos Display with with X-Reality engine, powered by 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean).
