Google releases Android P Beta 3 (DP4) with bug fixes and optimizations

Google released Android ‘P’ Beta 2 (DP3) for the Pixel smartphones last month, now it has released Beta 3 (DP4) for the phones. Android P Beta 2 included the final APIs (API level 28) as well as the official SDK, the latest beta  includes the latest bug fixes and optimizations for stability and polish, along with the July 2018 security updates. Vivo Z1i with 6.26-inch FHD+ 19:9 display, Snapdragon 636, dual rear cameras, Android 8.1 announced

Vivo announced Z1 in China in May, today it has officially introduced the Z1i, a cheaper version of the smartphone in China, after it surfaced last week. It has specifications as the Z1, including a 6.26-inch FHD+ 19:9 2.5D curved glass display with a notch, 90% screen-to-body ratio and narrow bezels, 4GB of RAM, Android 8.1 (Oreo) with Funtouch OS 4.0 on top and features a 13-megapixel rear camera along with a secondary 2-megapixel camera, but this is powered by Snapdragon 636 instead of Snapdragon 660, comes with 128GB of storage and a 16-megapixel front camera. Xiaomi Mi A1 Android 8.1 Oreo stable update finally starts rolling out [Download link]

Xiaomi launched Mi A1 back in September last year under Android One programme in collaboration with Google with an aim to keep the Android version updated for next couple of years. At the event, Xiaomi and Google promised regular security patch updates every month along with Android Oreo in 2017 itself for Mi A1.

Panasonic Toughbook FZ-T1 rugged handheld with Android 8.1 announced

Panasonic has announced Toughbook FZ-T1, the company’s latest rugged handheld targeted at enterprise customers  including retail and hospitality, manufacturing, transportation and logistics. It hasintegrated barcode scanner with two trigger buttons, either side of the device, and will also get a separate long and short range barcode scanning accessory for inventory management such as scanning from forklifts, shelf stocking, assisted sales or order taking and queue busting.

Nokia 2 finally gets Android 8.1 Oreo beta

HMD Global launched the Nokia 2 budget smartphone in India back in November last year. At the launch the company confirmed that the phone will get Android 8.0 (Oreo) update in the future. Later in December HMD Global’s Chief product officer Juho Sarvikas‏ confirmed that Nokia 2 will get Android 8.1 Oreo update directly skipping 8.0 update, and also said that it the update will bring most of the Android 8.1 features including the memory management improvements. Huawei’s Honor brand launched its flagship Honor 10 smartphone in India last month running Android 8.1 (Oreo) with EMUI 8.1 on top.
