Samsung has launched the Galaxy S Duos 2, the company’s latest smartphone in the Galaxy series in India officially. It went on sale last week, and packs a 4.0-inch WVGA(480×800 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. It comes with Dual SIM support with Dual SIM always-on feature and packs a 1500mAh battery with up to 8 hours of talk time.

Epson brings mobile printing support for new Amazon Kindle Fire Tablets

Epson has announced that their printers now support mobile printing on the new Amazon’s new Kindle Fire tablets running on the latest Fire OS version 3.1. These include the new Kindle Fire HDKindle Fire HDX 7-inch and 8.9-inch tablets. Sadly the latest Kindle Fire tablets are not available in the Indian market yet. A wide range of Epson Connect-enabled printers now lets users to wirelessly print documents, photos, emails and more. Xolo Play Tegra Note was expected to launch in India in October, but it didn’t happen. Now the Tegra 4-powered 7-inch Android tablet has appeared on Flipkart. This is a re-branded Tegra Note tablet that was announced back in September and Xolo was announced as a partner for India launch. It has a 7-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) IPS display with support for NVIDIA DirectStylus technology and also comes with a stylus pen. It is powered by a 1.8 GHz quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 4 CPU and runs Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean).

You need to manage your crew, upgrade your ship and engage in huge naval battles to become the most feared pirate of your time and claim La Buse’s legendary treasure. YotaPhone with LCD and e-Ink screen launched for 499 Euros

Yota Devices has finally launched the YotaPhone at an event in Russia as we reported recently. The YotaPhone is priced at 499 Euros in Europe and costs 19,980 Rubles in Russia. The company showed off the phone with dual screens at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona earlier this year. It has 4.3-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) LCD capacitive multi touch main screen and a 4.3-inch (360×640 pixels)  E-Ink rear screen. It is powered by a 1.7 GHz Dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM 8960 processor and runs on Android 4.2.2 ( Jelly Bean). The phone also has special YotaPhone gestures and Put2Back applications for the back screen. The app is popular for its minimalistic UI and ultra-real film filters that professional photographers want on a mobile device. After a long wait, it is finally coming to Android tomorrow. Jelly Bean now on 54.5% of Android devices, 1.1% devices running on KitKat

Android Distribution November to December 2013

Google has released the Android’s Platform Distribution Numbers for the period of November to December 2013.  The chart shows that 54.5% of Android devices are running on Jelly Bean, in which Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) leads with 37.4% share. Only 1.1% of devices are running on Android 4.4 (KitKat). Google unveiled the Nexus 5 running on KitKat at the end of October. It also rolled out the Kitkat update for the Nexus 4, 7 and 10 and also released the factory images for these devices. How Broadcom is quietly “Connecting Everything”

The mobile handset market today is pretty much dominated with phones powered by either a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset or a MediaTek chipset. But there are certainly few other players as well.You might be aware of Samsung’s Exynos chips and also Apple’s own custom chips found on the iPhone and iPad. Then there are Nvidia & Intel too. Another player who is not very popular in the market at least in India is Broadcom. The company is finally talking and had invited us to a Mobility Roundtable in New Delhi few days back where I got to speak to several executives from the Irvine , California-based company. You might have heard about the Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos, which is one the most popular phones to be powered by a Broadcom BCM28155 chipset. Another device which was powered by the same chip was the Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus.

It packs a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. It comes with dual SIM support and has a 1700 mAh battery. Karbonn launched the Titanium S5, the company’s first smartphone with a 5-inch qHD screen earlier this year, now the successor Titanium S5+ with a faster 1.3GHz quad-core processor (probably MediaTek MT6582) is on sale from online retailers Snapdeal and Saholic in India. It has a 5-inch qHD IPS screen similar to its predecessor, but this is based on On-Cell capacitive touch solution. It runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean), packs an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera. It comes with dual SIM support with dual standby, similar to other Karbonn smartphones.
