Oppo N1 and R1 get a price cut to Rs. 32,990 and Rs. 24,990 respectively

Oppo N1, the previous flagship device from the company and Oppo R1, the premium mid range handset, have both got themselves a price cut in the Indian retail market. Previously sold for Rs. 39,990, the Oppo N1 will now be sold for Rs. 32,990 whereas the Oppo R1, which started selling for Rs. 26,990 will now be sold for Rs. 24,990. Replacing the flagship N1 is the new Find 7 which was announced a while back in India, and it will instead sell for Rs. 37,990. This price cut comes after the portfolio refresh that happened recently, with the announcement of the new top end devices Find 7 and the Find 7a.

LinkedIn India has 26 million users, 43% of traffic comes from mobile

With 26 million users, India has the second largest user base of LinkedIn behind the US. The largest professional social network said that India accounts for 8.6% of the global user base. In February, LinkedIn announced that it had 24 million users in India, which means the social network garnered about 2 million users in four months. The company also stated that more and more users are accessing the social network on their mobile.

Xiaomi India website goes live ahead of launch

Popular Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi is expected to make its debut in India very soon. Ahead of the launch, its website has gone live that proves to be rather short on details but does help create a bit of buzz around the launch. Owing to migration of a large user base from feature phones to smartphones, India has recorded 186% growth in smartphone shipment in Q1 of 2014, according to IDC. Xiaomi, the Chinese manufacturer known for its unique business model of selling its devices directly, announced its global expansion plans, starting with the hire of Hugo Barra, an Android executive from Google. Amazon now automatically saves documents sent to Kindle to Cloud Drive

Ever since Xiaomi, the popular smartphone manufacturer from China, laid out plans for expansion to Singapore, we knew that India was coming. As a confirmation to this, we have a Cnet interview of Hugo Barra talking about the company’s impending entry into the burgeoning Indian smartphone market and a tweet from the head of Google India, who had a meeting with Xiaomi’s Lin Bin and Hugo Barra as a part of the ongoing initiative. Xiaomi recently launched in Singapore, its first market outside China, and looks to expand rapidly to become a true global player.
