Samsung, HTC post kernel source for Google Play Edition handsets

As the first phones get the Android 4.4 KitKat update, Samsung and HTC have both begun preparing for the roll out to Google Play Edition devices. Samsung has posted the kernel source for the GPe Galaxy S4 online at its open source website. The download size of the source is 399MB and has all the open source parts of the update. HTC One to get Android 4.4 KitKat within 90 days

HTC has been trying their best to turn the ship around and having a consumer centric approach. From the beautifully designed HTC One to the Google Play Edition and now, fast OS updates, the company has been doing a lot of things right. Jason Mackenzie, president of HTC America, has just confirmed that the Google Play Edition of the flagship handset will be running Android 4.4 within 15 days. Microsoft wants Windows Phone to run on HTC’s Android phones – Report

Microsoft is apparently trying to court HTC, one of the major Android OEMs, to make Windows Phone run on its Android Phones, according to a report from Bloomberg. Another report from Android Central claims that HTC engineers are already looking at providing Dual Boot options of Windows Phone and Android for its upcoming devices. This is a surprising turn of events for the software giant, as the company has long stood by its licensing model that doesn’t allow this option of dual boot, but things may be changing fast, as the strategy is rapidly moving towards “Devices and Services”, especially with the announcement of a Nokia acquisition.

HTC One Android 4.3 OTA Update starts rolling out in Taiwan

The HTC One might have launched way back in February but it still remains the flagship phone for the company, and with it being a flagship comes the responsibility of fast updates. We have seen the Android 4.2.2 update roll out first in Taiwan, in the month of July, and now we are seeing the latest Android 4.3 update roll out for the HTC One again, in Taiwan, starting today. Android 4.3 is still the latest version of the vastly popular operating system and considering that even the Nexus devices run on this version, HTC and other OEMs have made good time on the updates.

HTC unveils Robert Downey Jr. in its new “Change” ad campaign with a new teaser

HTC was rumored to be in talks with Robert Downey Jr. for a while now and today HTC have officially signed up Robert Downey Jr. for a two year deal. According to the press release, this is HTC’s most ambitious campaign till date and the “Change” brand is expected to bring a “change” in HTC’s Digital, PR, Social and other activities. The beginning of the Change platform will be marked by ads that star Robert Downey Jr and will be hitting the media on August 15th.

HTC One Dual SIM with 3G GSM+CDMA coming to India for Rs. 48,490

The HTC One has proven to be quite a popular model for the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer and has got rave reviews across the internet including from us. The company is now all set to launch the coveted dual SIM model that also incorporates a micro SD card slot that has been missing from the single SIM international variant.

The handset supports both CDMA and GSMA networks on the first SIM card slot while the second will top off at EDGE speeds on GSM networks. The phone should have an MRP of Rs 49,500 though the MOP is expected to be around Rs. 48,490. Other specifications remain the same with the only addition being the micro SD card slot hidden under the removable back shell. HTC Fetch BL A100 Navigation Tag spotted on Clove UK

HTC Fetch has been rumored for a while as an upcoming accessory by the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer. The accessory has now shown up at UK based retailer, Clove’s website alongside a small image that gives us a few clues as to what it might be.
