Nokia 500 – 1GHz Symbian Anna Phone Launched

Nokia just launched a new generation low end touchscreen handset. Dubbed the Nokia 500 , it comes with the new generation 1Ghz class processors. Symbian Anna comes preloaded on the device.  The screen is a 3.2″ capacitive multi touch panel with nHD resolution. On the back , users can find a 5MP Autofocus EDoF/Fixed focus camera unit.

Samsung Galaxy SL I9003, Galaxy Tab 3G and WiFi models getting Gingerbread update soon

Samsung Russia has announced that it’s entire line of Galaxy products are getting the Gingerbread update. While many phones have already got the update , the company has promised that it’s bringing the gingerbread update to the Galaxy Tab 3G and WiFi models and also the Galaxy SL i9003. The Galaxy 3 and Galaxy 5 will not get Gingerbread love but only Froyo !

IDEA 3G Speed Test

We managed to get hold of a IDEA 3G connection as the operator has silently rolled out 3G services in Chennai and Tamil Nadu. As you all might know , IDEA does not have a license in this circle and has inked a deal with Vodafone  to offer 3G services here. Our test device was the ultra fast HTC Flyer which supports HSPA networks upto 14.4 Mbps.  The moment we enabled 3G on the Flyer , we were latched on to the Vodafone network(After activation of course). IDC : Mobile Phone Market Q2 2011 – Nokia, Samsung, LG top mobile phone vendors by shipments


According to report by Research Firm IDC (International Data Corporation) the Worldwide mobile phone market grew 11.3% year over year in the 2nd quarter of 2011 (2Q11) with the worldwide shipment of 328.4 million units.
