Mozilla B2G Announced : Web Centric Mobile OS

Mozilla today announced its plans to develop an open source mobile operating system. The OS will be focused primarily on web-apps. Dubbed B2G , the OS will make use of HTML5 capabilities to deliver basic phone functionality via various APIs.

BlackBerry Torch 2 and Blackberry Touch 9860 Spotted in Hands-on Videos

We  recently reported that the Press Images and Spec-sheets of Blackberry Torch 2 9810 and Blackberry Touch 9860 were leaked. Today we spotted two new hands-on videos of these  devices. In those videos we can see the new Blackberry OS 7 interface and new virtual touch keyboard.

iOS 5 Adding Face Recognition Support

9to5 Mac reports that Apple is adding support for face recognition in iOS 5.0 .  The feature will be accessible via API calls by developers allowing for some very interesting applications. The site reports that one of the APIs allows for recognizing the position of the person’s eyes and mouth.

Vodafone 555 Blue ‘Facebook phone’ announced

Vodafone UK today announced the 555 Blue, a budget Facebook phone aimed at the masses.

The phone will feature a QWERTY monoblock design, 2.4″ touchscreen display with QVGA resolution, Bluetooth, FM radio, 2 Megapixel camera with LED flash and microSD card slot. It relies on 2.5G EDGE data for connection and will not feature any sort of 3G and WiFi connectivity. Like the HTC ChaCha, the 555 Blue will also have a dedicated Facebook button.
