Vodafone India has launched customer support through live chat. This service lets Vodafone customers chat to the customer care executive to solve their queries about their connection. This saves a lot of time since it connects quickly, unlike a call to customer support that would have several procedures before it connects to a customer care executive. HTC has started the roll out of the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update in some markets including UK. We had access to a UK unit and a massive 600 MB update showed up via OTA today. The update bears the version number 3.16.401.8 and measures 612.27 MB.We decided to give it a go and it was the much awaited jelly bean update. HTC had promised that it will release Android 4.1 JellyBean for the One S and One X this year and looks like the Taiwanese phone maker is keeping its word ! RIM’s upcoming BlackBerry 10 based devices are no secret and have shown up more than a few times. Today, we got a glimpse at what might be the first QWERTY equipped device running BlackBerry OS 10. Named the “BlackBerry X10”, the handset brings a Bold 9900 inspired design to the struggling smartphone manufacturer’s next generation line up.
China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has published statistics which reveal that the country’s mobile subscriber base has crossed 1.104 billion users as of November 2012. This is an increment of close to 118 million subscribers over the course of 11 months. The national telecom business volume has gone up 11.4% over the same period last year with a total of 1.18601 trillion yuan.
Approximately 82% of China’s population uses a mobile phone with about 20% of that (approximately 220 million) using 3G equipped devices. The Chinese smartphone market remains one of the most rapidly increasing territories and will top the combined US iOS & Android install base in 2013. There are about 167 million iOS and Android devices in use. Gartner had previously reported that Lenovo is set to steal the spot for number one manufacturer from Samsung in 2013. With the amount of innovation being seen in China by the likes of Huawei, ZTE amongst others, we expect Android based smartphones to help increase the smartphone userbase multifold over the next year.

Intex has launched the iBuddy Connect, a new 7-inch tablet in the iBuddy range. Most of the features are similar to the 7-inch i-Buddy tablet that was launched earlier this year, but this comes with a SIM card slot and supports voice calling features. It has a 7-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display and is powered by a 1 GHz processor. It runs on Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and comes with a 2MP rear camera other than the VGA front-facing camera. Looks like Samsung is launching a new Samsung Galaxy Note. The GT-N5100 just recently got benchmarked and its results turned up on GLBenchmark website. Looking at the model number, N usually is used for the Note.

Facebook has finally launched a new app called Poke for iPhone as rumored. This app would let you send a message, photo, or video to Facebook friends that expires after a specific time (1, 3, 5 or 10 seconds). This message disappears after the specified time. Dropbox for Android introduced photos tabs for uploads back in October, now they have released a new Beta version that enhances the photos tab. The new 2.2.2.8 experimental build for Android brings option select, share , delete and create albums from the photos tab. The Dropbox for iPhone and iPad got the Photos tab in the version 2.0 update last week but these new features are not available yet.
