Samsung Galaxy Mega Plus with 5.8-inch display, quad-core processor unveiled in China
Samsung launched the Galaxy Mega 5.8 in India last year. The Samsung Galaxy Mega Plus (GT-I9152P) has appeared on the official Samsung China website. It has a 5.8-inch qHD (960 x 540 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, similar to the Mega 5.8, but this one is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor instead of a 1.4 GHz dual-core processor. It runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean), has a 8MP auto-focus rear camera with LED Flash and a 1.9 MP front-facing camera and packs a 2600 mAh battery. Dual OS Geeksphone Revolution to launch on 20th February for 289 Euros
The Geeksphone Revolution was introduced as one of the first ever devices to come with two operating systems out of the box, Android and Firefox Boot2Gecko. The Spanish handset maker, known for making other Firefox phones, will be launching it on the 20th of February for a price of 289 Euros(around 24,500 INR). Powered by the Intel Z2560 processor with PowerSGX544 for graphics, the Geeksphone revolution will be able to switch between two operating systems with ease. Oppo Find 7 launch event set for March 19th in China
Oppo has just announced that they would launched the most expected Find 7 flagship smartphone at an event in China, Beijing on March 19th, 2014. The launch was expected at the MWC 2014 later this month. We already know that the Find 7 would have a 2k display. The Oppo N1 with a swivel camera was launched in India recently. Nokia Lumia 1320 Review

Windows Phone 8.1 leak confirms SD card installation support, VPN and universal apps
Windows Phone 8.1 might be unveiled to the public only in April at the Build developer event, but some enterprising developers have already been able to get a preview of the SDK, as reported earlier by TheVerge. We had expected more information to pop up once it became available, and thanks to a redditor, who claims to be a high-profile WP app developer(there is proof), some details of the next big update to Microsoft’s mobile platform have leaked. While most of the details are developer-oriented, some of the long standing consumer complaints seem to have been resolved, like the support for installation of apps on the SD card, VPN support and the start of universal apps for Windows Store and Windows Phone Store.

Panasonic India has entered into feature phone market with two new phones- EZ180 and EZ240. The company entered into the smartphone market with P51 last year. Later it expanded its smartphone segment with new mid-range smartphones. These new affordable feature phones are the only devices in the Indian feature phone market which are CE certified, says the company. Samsung Galaxy Star Trios Android smartphone with triple SIM support unveiled
LG unveiled Optimus L1 II Tri (E475) with triple SIM support last week. Now the Samsung Galaxy Trios has been spotted on the official Samsung Brazil website. It has a 3.14-inch (320 x 240 pixels) TFT screen, powered by a 1 GHz single-core Qualcommm Snapdragon MSM7225A processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) with Samsung’s own Touchwiz UI on top. It has a 2-megapixel rear camera without flash. Most of the specifications are similar to the Galaxy Star, but this has 3G connectivity and also has Samsung’s Always ON triple SIM support. Huawei Ascend G700 Benchmarks
Huawei launched the Ascend G700, the company’s latest mid-range smartphone in the G Series last month, here we have the benchmarks. It has a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek 6589 processor with PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) with Huawei’s own Emotion UI on top. TSMC switching to 8 inch processing for TouchID sensors
TSMC or the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company is responsible for manufacturing Touch ID sensors for the Apple iPhone. Apple had previously contracted TSMC to produce fingerprint sensors at their 12 inch processing facility using a 65nm process. Due to risks associated with the 12 inch Wafer Level Packaging (WLP) process, the production yield has so far been limited to between 70-80%. This is set to change. MediaTek MT6595 Octa-Core chip with built-in 4G LTE announced
MediaTek has just announced MT6595, the world’s First 4G LTE Octa-Core Smartphone SOC with ARM Cortex-A17 CPU that was announced today. This uses PowerVR Series6 GPU and not the Mali-T720 GPU that was announced along with the Cortex-A17. This has H.265 H.265 Ultra HD (4K2K) video record & playback. It uses ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture along with MediaTek’s CorePilot technology for Heterogeneous Multi-Processing (HMP) that uses all the eight cores. ARM announces Cortex-A17 processor with Mali T720 GPU aimed at mid-range smartphones and tablets
ARM today announced the Cortex-A17, the company’s latest processor that would offer 60% more performance than the ARM Cortex-A9 processor. It is paired with ARM Mali-T720 GPU that has Open GL ES 3.0 support. The Cortex-A17 is based on 28nm process technology and ARMv7-A architecture. It can go up to 2GHz per CPU and supports ARM big.LITTLE processing using the CoreLink CCI-400 Cache Coherent Interconnect.
