Huawei and Russia’s MegaFon plan for 5G launch at 2018 World Cup
Huawei and Russian operator MegaFon have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the development of 5G technology with a view to a potential launch in time for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. The MoU builds on a partnership between the two companies that stretches back to the deployment of GSM in 2002. The MoU is likely to mean 5G services could become available to participants and guests at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and as part of the MoU, the two companies will work together to plan, build and deploy 5G network infrastructure. Steve Unger takes over as Ofcom CEO
Steve Unger has been appointed as the new interim Chief Executive Officer set regulator Ofcom until the position is filled permanently in early 2015. Unger will replace Ed Richards, the current CEO, who has announced he is leaving his position at the end of the year. Unger, who holds a Master’s degree in Physics and a PhD in AstroPhysics, has previously held Director roles at Manet Telecom and the Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes. Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro Benchmarks
Lenovo launched the Vibe Z2 Pro smartphone in India back in September . We reviewed the smartphone recently, here are the benchmarks of the Vibe Z2 Pro. It is powered by quad-core Snapdragon 801 28nm HPm Krait 400 CPU clocked at 2.46 GHz with Adreno 330 GPU clocked at 578 MHz. It has a 6-inch ( 2560 x 1440 pixels) Quad HD display and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS with Vibe 2.0 UI on top. Several flagship smartphones have a Snapdragon 801 SoC, but very few smartphones feature a Quad HD display. Let’s check out the performance in a range of synthetic benchmark tests.

UberGO cheaper version of UberX launched in India
Uber has launched UberGO, a low-cost Uber service cheaper than the UberX in India. Uber entered India last year with its UberBLACK service and launched its UberX service back in June. The base fare for UberGO is just Rs.20 or Rs. 40 depending on the city. Rate per minute and kilometer are also cheaper in UberGO compared to UberX. It is now available in all the 10 cities where Uber is operational, across India that includes, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi and Pune.
