With an aim to provide seamless airport entry and check-ins for air travellers, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has launched a digital travel experience initiative called as DigiYatra. The platform will link unique IDs such as Aadhaar, passport or PAN card to the airlines’ booking PNR. After linking UIDs, a digital boarding pass will be created for travellers and the boarding gate, and boarding time details will be sent to their smartphone. OPPO today announced OPPO R11 and R11 Plus smartphones at an event in China. The R11 comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display with 1.6mm narrow bezels and 77% screen-to-body ratio and the R11 Plus comes with a 6-inch 1080p display. Both these have a 16-megapixel camera with wide-angle lens (f/1.7) and a 20-megapixel secondary camera with telephoto lens (f/2.6) along with Qualcomm’s Spectra 160 ISP for optical zoom, Hybrid Autofocus and other camera features. Microsoft has signed an agreement to acquire cybersecurity firm Hexadite. The Israeli based company was founded in 2014 and specializes in delivering automatic incident investigation and remediation solutions. In May, Israeli financial news website Calcalist said Microsoft would pay $100 million for Hexadite. Neither of the companies has revealed terms of the deal.

Despite India’s smartphone craze, there’s little doubt that market penetration levels remain woefully low. With a potential market size that could be larger than many other countries put together, it is easy to understand why everyone and especially the Chinese brands have been trying to make inroads here. In a country as unique and diverse as India, simply replicating a business model that has worked in China doesn’t quite work and so we’ve seen several brands have limited success using flash sales and the online sales model.
