Samsung launched the Galaxy S9+ in India last week and the phone went on sale in the country from today. As it had announced at the launch event, the 256GB version of the S9+ is exclusively Reliance Digital stores and Jio Stores in addition to Samsung exclusive stores and Samsung Shop. It also said that those who do a cumulative recharge of minimum Rs. 2500 within 12 months from any of the available Jio plans, they would be eligible for 70% of the MRP as buyback amount on return of the device after a year when the S9+ 256GB version is purchased at Reliance Digital Stores, Jio Stores or Jio.com.

A new smartphone code-named Blackshark surfaced on AnTuTu, now the phone has surfaced on Geekbench listing revealing the code-name of the phone as SKR-A0. This is believed to be Xiaomi’s first gaming smartphone under the new Black shark brand, in which Xiaomi started investing last year.

It has a 5.5-inch 1080p 2.5D curved glass display, is powered by MediaTek Helio P25 SoC with 4GB of RAM, runs Android 7.1 (Nougat), has 12-megapixel (monochrome + RGB) dual rear cameras, PDAF for portrait shots a and an 8-megapixel front camera.

Facebook has released the Express Wi-Fi app for locally operated hotspots for Android. The app lets users buy data packs and find nearby hotspots as part of Facebook’s distributed Wi-Fi network. Facebook’s Express Wi-Fi program is live in five developing countries where users can buy and access high-speed data connectivity via local telecoms. Samsung launched the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones in India last week. Now both the smartphones have received a new update that brings March 2018 Android security patch. It also brings improved stability to Face Unlock and camera for the Galaxy S9+ along with usual set of stability improvements and bug fixes for the phone. For me, the fingerprint sensor issue that doesn’t respond after sometime has been fixed with this update.

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphone in India last month. The company today launched the phone in China today as Redmi Note 5 AI Dual Camera. Even though the phone has the same 5.99-inch Full HD+ 2.5D curved glass screen, Snapdragon 636 SoC with up to 6GB RAM, Hybrid Dual SIM slot, 4000mAh battery and comes with 12-megapixel rear camera, but this has a f/1.9 aperture camera compared to f/2.2 in the Indian version, however this has 1.4μm pixel size compared to 1.25μm in the Indian version. It also has Dual PD dual-core speed focus for fast and accurate focus. The secondary rear camera is the same 5-megapixel unit .
