Today RIM announced that Blackberry Playbook would be available in United states and Canada starting at $499. Distribution of Playbook would be through 20,000 retail stores all over U.S and Canada, starting 19th of April.

Nokia Astound is the C7 for T-Mobile

Nokia was expected to launch a Symbian handset for USA at CTIA and they have announced the Nokia Astound – a T-Mobile branded C7 . The Symbian^3 device will be available exclusively on T-Mobile (soon to be AT&T ) starting from April 6.  The Astound seems identical in specs to the C7 including the 3.5 inch AMOLED display , stylish design , 8MP EDoF Camera with 720p video recording. Sprint Announces The Google Nexus S 4G With Google Voice Integration

Sprint announced the new variant of the latest Google phone, the Nexus S 4G. It is the first handset to feature the Android Gingerbread OS along with the 4G connectivity.

Last year, Google and Samsung launched the much-awaited Google Nexus S. This handset is the successor of the popular Nexus One smartphone and it runs on the latest Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system. AT&T to acquire T-Mobile USA for a cool USD 39 billion

AT&T USA is the largest GSM mobile operator in USA and 2nd largest carrier after Verizon Wireless. T-Mobile USA is the 4th largest carrier and is owned by Deutsche Telekom Germany. Today, AT&T and Deutsche Telekom have announced that AT&T will acquire T-Mobile USA from Deutsche Telekom for a price tag of USD 39 billion in cash and stock. This is totally shocking news because both these companies were competing with each other for quite some time. The deal will take the usual legal process and might take about a year to be approved. I don’t know any GSM carrier in USA apart from T-Mobile and AT&T. Now this deal means that there is going to be monopoly in the US GSM market and regulators might really not like the idea. Good luck to AT&T and Deutsche Telekom !

Nokia to announce new Symbian handset at CTIA for USA

Nokia is planning to launch a new Symbian device at CTIA on March 21 happening at Orlando, Florida. Nokia’s performance in the American market has been disappointing compared to other major mobile markets such as Europe, China and India. Looks like Nokia’s new CEO Stephen Elop has plans to refocus on the American market which is one of the biggest mobile markets.

HP TouchPad Live Pics and Hands On Video

We had the chance to get close to the HP TouchPad Tablet running on webOS during MWC and although the device was a prototype , it was super impressive. It was really interesting to see webOS on a large screen and multitasking rocked on the TouchPad ( watch video below). the 9.7 inch display was utilized pretty well by the card interface of webOS

Samsung DROID Charge (SCH-i510) Verizon 4G LTE Phone Photos

At MWC 2011 , we saw an interesting unbranded phone from Samsung for Verizon (model SCH_i510) . The device was simply called the Samsung 4G LTE Phone , but now there are reports that this is indeed the Samsung Stealth V and DROID CHARGE running on Android 2.2 Froyo. It has a unique design , a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Display , 8 MP Camera with 1080p recording. Other features include HDMI out and a 2 MP front facing camera. While we played with the device , it was running on FroYo and it might launch with Gingerbread.
