Foxconn would be manufacturing BlackBerry OS 10.2 smartphones and the company’s chairman Terry Gou announced that these smartphones will be showcased at the MWC 2014 which is three weeks away from now. Among the phones that could be showcased there, a phone by the model number STJ100-1 passed Bluetooth SIG certification yesterday.

Samsung is known to release new flagship devices along with a lot of software features and gimmicks. Samsung’s TouchWiz UI is one of the heaviest skins in terms of RAM consumption and it comes with a lot of default apps that you cannot uninstall. According to the rumor mill, Samsung’s TouchWiz reportedly getting a big overhaul alongside the launch of Samsung Galaxy S5. But just a couple of days back, Google and Samsung entered into an agreement for patents and Samsung may be toning down on the TouchWiz to make it more Google like.

Earlier this week LG confirmed that it would launch the LG G Pro 2, successor of the LG G Pro next month. Live images of the device has surfaced in Korea, which shows off G2-like rear-mounted power button and volume keys, textured back panel, unlike G Pro’s shiny plastic panel with square pattern elements. Last year Samsung said that we would see a Tizen-based device in 2013, but it didn’t happen. Image of the Samsung GT-I8800 codenamed Redwood back in May, later in October we saw a video of the Samsung Z9005 RedWood running Tizen 2.2. Nokia Normandy is coming. Things are falling together for the fans who are eagerly awaiting an Android smartphone from the Finnish manufacturer Nokia. There have been numerous leaks about the Nokia Normandy right from the end of December 2013 and the leaks just won’t stop. Most of the leaks have been courtesy of @evleaks. Nokia Normandy has been codenamed Nokia X.
HTC is popular for using colorful rear panels for their mid-range Desire segment. Now an unknown mid-range smartphone from HTC has been leaked in China, showing off colorful back covers in yellow, orange, cyan and red. The company had been using Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 and 200 series of processors for its mid-range smartphones, but this one is rumored to feature the new Octa-Core chip from MediaTek. Lenovo K7T (Kingdom) has surfaced in AnTuTu Benchmarks in China. After the Lenovo Vibe X and the Vibe Z smartphones with full HD display, the K7T would be the first smartphone from the company to sport a a 2K display with a resolution of 2560×1400 pixels. According to the leaked benchmark screenshot, it would come with 3GB RAM and a 2.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with Adreno 330 GPU. Rumors about the LG G3 surfaced last month, which is expected only in the second half of 2014. As the MWC nears , more rumors have started flowing in about LG’s upcoming devices. The LG G Pro 2 phablet with a 6-inch full HD display is expected to be unveiled next month, according to Korea’s ETNews. The LG Optimus G Pro had a Snapdragon 600 processor and 2GB of RAM, the G Pro’s successor is expected to come with a Snapdragon 800 processor, similar to the LG G2 and would have 3GB of RAM to compete with the Note 3. It would run on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box and have LTE-A support for select markets such as Korea. BSNL, State Owned Telecom Operator and MTNL would launch new free roaming plans starting from January 26th, according to a recent report from TOI. Videocon Mobile Services was the first operator in India to offer incoming calls free while on roaming on their own network by default, without any processing fee or a special tariff voucher. It also launched new packs later that offer free incoming calls while roaming on other networks. Other operators joined in with cheaper roaming plans starting with free incoming calls while roaming. One of the best things about Android is the ability to replace whatever you don’t like – keyboards and launchers for example. iOS has always been, is and will be a closed environment without allowing users to replace their on-screen keyboards among many other things. SwiftKey, one of the very popular Keyboard applications on the Android platform, has been repeatedly asked by its fan-base to develop something for the iOS despite the restriction being on Apple’s side.
One thing Nokia has found it tough, is to keep the Nokia Normandy under covers. There have been numerous leaks about the device and there were also rumors that the device was shelved, but it turns out that the latest development suggests that Nokia will indeed be launching the Normandy. Nokia Normandy had been identified as Nokia A110 running on Android 4.4 KitKat by GSMArena, now it has leaked at Indonesian FCC.
