Snapchat Spotlight takes on TikTok and Reels, will let creators earn money for their snaps

Snapchat has announced a new feature called Spotlight where creators will be able to create and share video clips to the public. The feature is similar to Instagram’s Reels and TikTok, and Snapchat will pay a share of $1 million every day to the creators who share the most popular clips.

LG Cinebeam Laser 4K projector with up to 300-inch projection, webOS 5.0 starts rolling out

LG introduced its new CineBeam 4K Laser projector (HU810PW)  at the IFA couple of months back, now it has started rolling out the projector from South Korea. It supports  4K (3,840×2,160) UHD resolution with a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, brightness of 2,700 ANSI-Lumen and meets 97%  DCI-P3 colour gamut. The screen size can be adjusted from 40 inches (about 1 meter diagonally) to 300 inches (about 7.62 meters diagonally), so it can be used in various spaces. Google Phone may get rebranded to Google Call app with new icon

The stock Phone by Google app can be found on the Pixel devices and a few other smartphones as the default dialer app, with Pixel users getting some exclusive features such as Hold for me and Call Screen. The app is rumoured to be getting a rebrand with a new icon and name change to Google Call.

Google Assistant now lets users to schedule light timings

Google recently rolled out an update on Google Assistant that enables users to schedule lights on and off timings. Anyone who has a Google Home and smart lights know the drill. This feature allows users to schedule a smart home command to trigger at a later time. Tamil Nadu bans online gaming involving betting

Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit has promulgated Ordinance to “Ban Online Gaming” that involves betting. This is issued after innocent people mainly youngsters are being cheated and some people have committed suicide after losing money, said the official release. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Palaniswami had recently said that the government was taking steps to ban online games following several demands and complaints about suicides of people who lost money due to such activities in the state. Google is testing Task Mate app in India that lets you earn money by doing tasks

Google is reportedly beta testing a new app called Task Mate with select Indian users, with the idea of awarding users money for performing certain tasks. These tasks can include recording certain phrases, taking photos of businesses, etc. and the app will reward the user with real Indian rupees, which can be cashed out directly into a bank account.

OnePlus 9 Pro with 6.7-inch curved display, quad rear cameras renders surface

After the OnePlus 9, CAD-based renders of the OnePlus 9 Pro, the company’s upcoming flagship smartphone which is still in the prototype stage has surfaced online. This reveals a 6.7-inch curved screen with a punch-hole in the top left corner. It will likely be a Quad HD+ AMOLED screen with an in-display fingerprint scanner, but it is not clear if the company will move from 120Hz to 144Hz refresh rate screen. Apple settles yet another iPhone “Batterygate” lawsuit with $113 million fine

It has been nearly 3 years since news broke out of people noticing slowdowns in older iPhones after they updated the software. Since then, it has been a story of various lawsuits and litigations after Apple acknowledged that they were indeed slowing down performance over battery concerns. Samsung adds Google Assistant support for 2020 Smart TV lineup

Samsung has announced that their 2020 lineup of Smart TVs will now support the Google Assistant, giving users quick access to smart home controls, web searches, and apps via voice. The Assistant will be joining the existing suite of voice assistants supported in Samsung Smart TVs, which include Amazon’s Alexa and Samsung’s own Bixby.
