Apple iPhone SE 2020 will be available in India at an effective price of Rs. 38900 with HDFC cashback offer

Apple introduced the new iPhone SE last month priced starting at Rs. 42500. Today it has announced a limited period offer for HDFC Bank cards that will let them get the phone effectively at Rs. 38,900 after Rs. 3600 cashback. The 128GB version costs Rs. 44,200 and 256GB storage version at Rs. 54700, after the Rs. 3600 cashback under the offer compared to Rs. 47,800 and Rs. 58,300 price tag effectively. Apple said to shift 20% of production capacity to India, aims for $40 billion revenue in the next 5 years

Apple may be on track to increase India’s local manufacturing revenue to nearly $40 billion over the next 5 years, as a result of the Government of India’s Production Linked Incentive scheme (PLI) for large scale electronics manufacturing. The scheme will be largely availed by two of Apple’s contract manufacturers, namely Winstron and Foxconn.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 768G announced — 15% faster CPU and GPU performance compared to 765G, updateable GPU drivers

Qualcomm just announced Snapdragon 768G, the company’s latest mid-range 5G Mobile platform and the successor of the Snapdragon 765G that was introduced back in December last year. This comes with faster Qualcomm Kryo 475 CPU Prime core clock speed up to 2.8 GHz compared to 2.4 GHz in the 765G and also promises up to 15% faster graphics rendering than Snapdragon 765G and support for 120Hz display. Update: Vivo has confirmed the launch of V19 smartphone in India on May 12th, after it has been postponed from the original launch date of March 26th. India smartphone market saw 32.5 million shipments, up 1.5% YoY in Q1 2020: IDC

Being the only one among the top 3 to record a positive growth for the first quarter of 2020, the Indian smartphone market shipped 32.4 million units overall. This calculates to a growth of 1.5% YoY, whereas the Chinese and US markets saw a decline of 20.3% YoY and 16.0% YoY respectively. The top 5 manufacturers continue to be Xiaomi, Vivo, Samsung, realme and OPPO.
