Micromax Windows Phones to arrive mid of next year, says co-founder

Is Micromax working on a Windows Phone? Well, the second largest smartphone manufacturer in India by volume recently made big news when it unleashed a series of promotions featuring Hugh Jackman for the Micromax Canvas Turbo, and also announced its plans to enter the European markets like Russia and Romania, but a Windows Phone that is currently dominated by Nokia? The company’s co-founder Rahul Sharma has admitted in an interview that they are indeed working on them, and claims to have them ready for a launch mid next year. Micromax is all set to launch their devices in Russia and Romania later this year, according to a recent report from The Hindu Business Line. Micromax roped in the Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman as their brand Ambassador and launched its flagship smartphone, the Canvas Turbo, the company’s latest flagship smartphone with a full HD display yesterday. Zen launched the Ultrafone 701 HD, the company’s first smartphone with HD display back in April, now the Zen Ultrafone 701 FHD, the company’s latest flagship smartphone with 5-inch full HD display is now available from online retailer Snapdeal. It has a 5.0-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display based on one-glass solution (OGS) technology and Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection, powered by 1.5 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 13-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED Flash and a 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Intex and Micromax launched their flagship smartphones with a full HD display recently. iBall Andi 4.5z with 4.5-inch qHD display and Android 4.2 now available for Rs. 7499

iBall Andi 4.5z, the company’s new smartphone in the Andi series is now available from online retailer Shopclues and packs a 4.5-inch qHD (960 x 540 pixels) capacitive touch screen IPS display, powered by a 1.3 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash and a front-facing camera. It comes with dual SIM support with dual standby and packs a 1700 mAh battery. This would compete with the Zen Ultrafone 502 that has similar features, which went on sale last week. Sony India has launched two new headphones, the MDR-10RNC with Noise Canceling capabilities and the MDR-10RBT with Bluetooth and NFC support in India. Sony has also launched the 3-in-1 Headphones with MP3 player and built-in speakers priced at Rs. 8,990. The Sony MDR-10RNC has built-in Intelligence Noise Canceling technology that could be enabled by a press of a button. This automatically activates one of three optimal noise canceling modes based on an analysis of ambient noise. It effectively reduces up to 99.4% of ambient noise whether on an airplane, on a train or in an office with Sony’s digital signal processing technology. Panasonic P11 Unboxing

Panasonic might have announced its retirement from the consumer smartphone market worldwide, but weirdly enough, that has not stopped the company from launching devices in India. One of them is the Panasonic P11, which seems like a specced down version of the P51 that we reviewed earlier. The P11 has almost the same specifications as the P51, with a quad core 1.2 GHz processor, 4GB of internal storage, but running on the older Android 4.1 operating system. But what’s striking is the outer shell, in a radical fluorescent green colour. But not to worry, there are replaceable covers in the box, which we show you in the unboxing video here –

Dhoom 3 game exclusively arrives on Windows Phone 8

Another day, another exclusive game/app for Windows Phone in India. Just after Krrish3, we now have Dhoom 3, another highly awaited multi starrer sequel in Bollywood this year, is getting its own game. Publishing games for movies is kind of a new marketing avenue for the respective movie producers and Yash Raj Films, Dhoom 3’s maker acknowledges this, by partnering with game dev 99Games Online Private Limited to release the Dhoom 3 game. It is an endless 3D moto racing game, which follows the popular formula of Temple Run and Subway Surfers with perks, power ups and feels like a good fit in this genre. You play Aamir Khan, whose bike you maneuver, who is being chased by Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra in two other bikes, and thus begins the endless chase to fight your boredom.

MapmyIndia Maps for iPhone

MapmyIndia, popular for its GPS navigation and mobile apps has launched the MapmyIndia Maps app for iPhone users. MapmyIndia made Sygic & MapmyIndia offline GPS Navigation app for Android completely free for Indian users last month. This offers  accurate and updated interactive maps of India including house addresses. It also offers Step-by-step driving direction, POIs and more. Huawei Ascend P6 officially launched in India for Rs. 29999

Huawei has officially launched the Ascend P6, the company’s latest flagship smartphone in India. It was announced back in June and went on sale in India online earlier this week. It packs a packs a 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) display based on in-cell LCD screen technology with responsive touch that works even when wearing gloves, powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) with new Emotion UI. It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with BSI sensor, F2.0 aperture and 4cm macro and 1080P full HD video recording and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Reliance Jio gets unified telecom license across India


Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL), a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited has announced that it has received unified License for all 22 Service Areas across India. This would allow RJIL to offer all telecom services including voice telephony under a single license. It is the only pan India operator with Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) spectrum across 22 circles capable of offering fourth generation (4G) wireless services. Huawei Ascend P6 Benchmarks

Huawei Ascend P6, the company’s latest flagship smartphone went on sale in India earlier this week. We brought you the unboxing of the device earlier today. Here we have the benchmarks of the device. The Ascend P6 has a 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) display based on in-cell LCD screen technology and is powered by a the Huawei’s own K3v2 processor developed by HiSilicon Technologies from Huawei. It has four 4 ARM Cortex A9 cores based on ARMv7 architecture. The chip is based on 40nm technology. It has a 16-core Vivante GC4000 GPU.
