Vic Gundotra the man who can win Developers for Google Android

Vic Gundotra was 21 in 1991 according to this document from Stanford  University pictured below and was then Demoing some stuff to Microsoft’s then head of Sales , Steve Ballmer who is currently the CEO.He sparked Microsoft’s change from Win32 to the .NET programming model. In fact he spent 15 years at Microsoft since then. Vic quit Microsoft to join Google back in 2007 and spent 1 year in between due to Microsoft’s non-compete clause.

Now in 2010 , he’s on stage at Google I/O – the company’s largest annual developer conference to woo developers to build applications for the Android operating system. He’s currently VP of Engineering at Google responsible for developer evangelism

Vic did make the inaugural address on the first day of the event but it was pretty short yet he managed to poke fun at competitor Apple CEO’s Late night email about HTML5. On day 2 this man was on stage for nearly an hour and he did talk about Android and the latest version – Froyo and the upcoming changes to the  Android platform and boy-o-boy he made us laugh repeatedly by criticizing Apple, Phone and the latest iPad . Samsung Champ Official Photos

Android 2.2 Froyo announced

Google has just announced the next major update to it’s Android Operating System . You might have heard of the Froyo update for a past several days. The Android 2.2 codenamed Froyo was finally announced at Google IO conference in San Francisco and Google gave away an HTC EVO 4G for Free to all attendees. Coming back to the update, it looks cool and brings some nice changes like ability to turn your phone into a WiFi Hotspot. Google is claiming Performance improvements of 2-5 times over Android 2.1 ! You can also send links from PC to open on phone with the new Android market website ! One of the coolest things we saw was the possibility to stream DRM Free music from your PC to your Phone !

Fly Mobile has launched the Booom MC105 with an inbuilt amplifier and a 30 x 40 mm speaker . Yeh it claims to go BOOM with an extra ‘o’  and aims to be your Portable Music system in a relatively small form factor. and reasonable price . But as with everything, it requires a successor to carry on it’s legacy and this leaked phone might just be that. Review of 3 Olive phones

The Indian mobile phone industry has seen unprecedented growth and emergence of new players in the market. Players like Micromax, Maxx, Karbonn have come from nowhere and started selling handsets in the lakhs.

Amongst them is a company called Olive. Olive Mobiles is a new entrant just like the ones above and many more. So what makes them unique you might ask, they all are the same after all! One look and you might say so. But a closer look reveals that it is not the same.

Olive phones have made quite a splash with their handsets. Engadget even covered one of their models. A feat, no Indian manufacturer I know has managed till date.

HTC Wildfire Official Photos

HTC has just launched the Wildfire for Europe and Asia and here are some official photos of the phone for your viewing pleasure. You will clearly notice in the photos that the phone looks a lot like the Nexus One and HTC Desire .The Wildfire  is expected to replace the Tattoo and will bring Android 2.1 to many users at a lower price compared to the Legend.

Rumour – 24 million iPhone HD units to be shipped by Foxconn

According to Digitimes Research , close to 24 million iPhone 4G / HD units are going to be shipped by Foxconn this year. The company is known to manufacture iPhones and other Apple products. Last year an employee of the company committed suicide after losing an iPhone prototype. Foxconn is expected to ship 4.5 million units initially and 19.5 million units later . Some interesting details about the iPhone 4G have emerged
