Huawei just unveiled Mate 9, its latest flagship smartphone at an event in Germany, as it had promised. It packs a 5.9-inch 1080p display with 2.5D glass, is powered by an Octa-Core HiSilicon Kirin 960 SoC with IntelliSense i6 sensor hub and runs on Android 7.0 (Nougat) with Emotion UI 5.0 on top and Google DaydreamVR support. It has a second generation Leica dual-lens camera with 12-megapixel RGB sensor, 20-megapixel monochrome sensor and Hybrid Zoom, featuring 2x magnification, dual-tone LED flash, laser auto focus, optical image stabilization (OIS) and uses Huawei’s own ISP. The latest numbers released from marketing firm Strategy Analytic shows that the Android market captured a record 88% of global market share in third quarter of 2016. Moreover, the report also claims that global smartphone shipments grew 6% annually from 354.2 million units in Q3 2015 to 375.4 million in Q3 2016. Gionee launched its high-end full metal-body S6 Pro last month in India for Rs. 23,999. The smartphone was first announced in China earlier this year in June and it is essentially a slightly tweaked version of the recently launched Gionee S6s. Lenovo introduced PHAB 2 Pro, the world’s first tango-enabled smartphone for consumers at the Tech World 2016 in San Francisco back in June.
