Spice Stellar Virtuoso Mi-495 with 4.5-inch qHD display, Android 4.0 launched for Rs. 10499

Spice has launched Stellar Virtuoso (Mi-495), their new Android smartphone with a 4.5-inch qHD (960 x 540 pixels) one-glass solution (OGS) capacitive touch screen IPS display. It is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It comes with an 8MP auto focus camera with LED flash at the back and a 1.3MP front-facing camera. It has Dual SIM support with Dual Standby. The company launched 3 Stellar phones last year. Spice Stellar Pad Mi-1010 with 10-inch display, Android 4.1 launched for Rs. 12999

Spice has entered into the tablet market with the launch of the Stellar Pad Mi-1010 in India that runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 10.1-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual core processor with Quadcore GPU. It has a 3MP rear camera and a VGA front-facing camera. Airtel launches WiFi hangout – a prepaid hotspot service in select cities

India’s leading mobile and broadband provider Airtel has now sought after a new way to provide its broadband internet as a service. While the notion of a paid WiFi hotspot is nothing new in India, there has not been a wide commercial push that has widened its reach, and Airtel may fix just that, with its new “WiFi Hangout” service, a prepaid WiFi hotspot, initially launched in three cities/regions namely Mumbai, NCR and Bangalore.

Vodafone India has launched customer support through live chat. This service lets Vodafone customers chat to the customer care executive to solve their queries about their connection. This saves a lot of time since it connects quickly, unlike a call to customer support that would have several procedures before it connects to a customer care executive. Reliance to test voice services on 4G networks

Coming from an Economic Times article, it looks like Reliance Industries limited (RIL) is all set to get approval from the telecom department (DoT) for testing voice services on its yet-to-be-launched 4G networks. This comes as a surprise as Airtel has been the only 4G player as of now, with limited network distribution.

Nationwide Mobile Number Portability expected by February 2013


Mobile Number Portability (MNP) is expected to be rolled out Nationwide by February 2013, said Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal, according to report from Economic Times. This would let the subscribers retain their numbers even if they move to another state, irrespective of the service provider. Mobile Number Portability (MNP) went live in India back in January 2011 that enables users retain their number when they switch from one operator to another within the circle.
