The saga is finally over (well partially at least): as expected, BT have confirmed they are in exclusive talks to buy EE – Britain’s largest mobile network – for the large sum of £12.5 billion. BT have confirmed their period of exclusivity would last for several weeks whilst negotiations took place and is likely to be a blow for O2’s Spanish owners Telefonica who have been trying to offload their UK operation. Vodafone Ireland has followed in the footsteps of its UK counterpart by introducing a new 4G Roaming offer that allows it customers to use their handset with superfast data whilst roaming in 33 countries around the world. For a single daily charge, consumers can use their inclusive Ireland allowances whilst roaming overseas with the daily cost varying depending on the country visited.

Vodafone are set to re-enter the US market as a MVNO running on the T-Mobile network. The network, who sold their large chunk in Verizon back tot he company for $130 billion, is not focusing on consumer and will instead cater to hundreds of multinational customers based across the pond. EE is set to axe its iconic “Orange Wednesdays” 2-for-1 cinema ticket offer from 25th February next year. BT looks set to push ahead with a deal to purchase O2 after opting for the network over bigger rival EE. Aircel has partnered with Hungama to offer the Hungama-Pro for free for the first two months. This enables customers to listen music and view full length HD quality music videos for free. Hungama offers Indian, International and Regional music. Hungama has multi-lingual transliteration feature in five languages that includes, English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Punjabi, allowing users to interact with the app in their preferred language. Three UK have revealed that their superfast 4G network is now available to 48% of the UK population with 3.1 million of their customers are now using the next-generation network. Three was the last network to roll out 4G ten months ago and despite the 48% coverage, they are still behind EE (78%), O2 and Vodafone (51%). O2 have stolen a march on its rivals by launching the new Google Nexus 6 in the UK a few days ahead of Carphone Warehouse. The handset is available on O2’s Refresh tariff and is available to both new and existing customers. The retailer is offering a special deal on the handset, offering unlimited minutes and texts with 2GB data each month for £38 per month. BT is expected to decide whether to make a bid for mobile networks O2 or EE by Christmas according to the Chief Executive of one half of EE’s parent company.
