Vodafone offers free Wi-Fi in Delhi’s Khan Market area for its own and other users

Vodafone has announced that it has started offering free Wi-Fi connectivity in Delhi’s Khan Market area for both Vodafone and Non-Vodafone subscribers. This covers most frequented hotspots like ROUTE 04, SOY, Choko La, Big Chill, Pure Punjab, Chonas, Town Hall and Khan Chacha. Last year Airtel partnered with Google to launch Free Zone to access some Google Apps for free. I experienced a similar free WiFi service at Hyderabad Airport powered by Tata Docomo. UK networks pledge £5 billion to fix coverage issues

The UK Government have announced a major landmark deal with the four major mobile networks to improve mobile coverage in the UK. Under the terms of the deal, the four networks – Vodafone, Three, O2 and EE – have guaranteed to spend £5 billion together to offer guaranteed mobile coverage to 90% of premises across the UK by 2017. BlackBerry Classic headed to Vodafone, O2 and EE in the UK

The new BlackBerry Classic smartphone will be available in the UK next month as networks Vodafone, O2 and EE have confirmed they will range the handset. All three networks will offer the BlackBerry Classic to business customers but rival network Three, who focuses on consumer connections only, will not be stocking the Classic.

Canada loans Vodafone $850 million to boost BlackBerry sales

Canada is backing the continued growth and existence of BlackBerry with a large 5-year $850 million loan to British communications giant Vodafone Group. Under the terms of the agreement, Vodafone will use $750 million to purchase equipment and services produced by BlackBerry and the other $100 million with smaller Canadian companies. Vodafone could seek protection over BT’s EE buyout

Vodafone is set to ask the UK watchdog and regulators to ensure BT doesn’t discriminate against its rivals once the latter acquires UK mobile leader EE. BT snubs O2, in talks to buy EE for £12.5 billion

The saga is finally over (well partially at least): as expected, BT have confirmed they are in exclusive talks to buy EE – Britain’s largest mobile network – for the large sum of £12.5 billion. BT have confirmed their period of exclusivity would last for several weeks whilst negotiations took place and is likely to be a blow for O2’s Spanish owners Telefonica who have been trying to offload their UK operation.
