OnePlus 6 launched in India starting at Rs. 34999

OnePlus announced its flagship OnePlus 6 smartphone at an event in London yesterday, now the company has launched it in India, as it had promised. It has a 6.29-inch Optic AMOLED display with a notch, about 84% screen-to-body ratio and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It is powered by Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform with up to 8GB of RAM.  It runs Android 8.1 (Oreo) with OxygenOS 5.1, and the company already promised that it will get Android P beta starting this week

OnePlus Bullets Wireless water-resistant headphones launched in India for Rs. 3990

OnePlus yesterday at its OnePlus 6 launch event in London introduced its new Bullets Wireless Bluetooth headphones with aptX technology. Today it has launched it in India. It has a magnetic resume that lets you turn it off just by attaching the headphones together and resume when  you remove it.

Nokia 7 Plus gets Dual 4G VoLTE support via OTA update in India

HMD Global launched the Nokia 7 Plus Android One smartphone in India last month, but it had support for 4G VoLTE in one SIM, while the other SIM supports only 3G, as we had mentioned in the review. As the company had promised earlier this month, the phone has received support for 4G VoLTE on both the SIMs via the latest V2.22A update. Huawei’s Honor brand just launched its flagship Honor 10 smartphone for global markets, including India at an event in London,as it had promised. It was announced in in China last month and packs a 5.84-inch Full HD+ 2.5D curved glass display with a notch, 19:9 aspect ratio and 82.6% screen-to-body ratio, is powered by an Octa-Core HiSilicon Kirin 970 10nm SoC with i7 co-processor and runs Android 8.1 (Oreo) with EMUI 8.1 on top. OPPO Realme 1 with 6-inch FHD+ display, up to 6GB RAM, Android 8.1, Face unlock launched in India starting at Rs. 8990

Earlier this month OPPO and Amazon India partnered to introduce the Realme smartphone brand, and it had promised it has launched the Realme 1 smartphone in the country. It packs a 6-inch FHD+ display with 1.98mm slim bezels on the sides and 84.8% screen-to-body ratio, but it doesn’t have a notch like the OPPO A3 that was introduced recently. It is powered by the MediaTek Helio P60 12nm SoC with up to 6GB of RAM and runs on Android 8.1 (Oreo) with ColorOS 5.0 on top. Airtel completes acquisition of Telenor India

Airtel today announced that it has completed the acquisition Telenor India, after a year of entering into an agreement to acquire Telenor India’s running operations in seven circles – Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Gujarat, UP (East), UP (West) and Assam, and transfer of all of Telenor India’s assets including spectrum, licenses and operations, including its employees and customer base of 44 million as well as outstanding spectrum payments and other operational contracts, including tower lease. Smartphone shipments up 11% YoY in Q1 2018 in India, Xiaomi continues to lead with 30.3% share: IDC

According to IDC, Indian smartphone shipments reached 30 million units in Q1 2018 and has seen a healthy 11% YoY growth, but it remained flat when compared to the previous quarter; Q4 2017. Reliance Jio has accused Airtel Apple watch service over breaching security and violating license norms. It has asked telecom ministry to take severe action and levy penalties against rival Bharti Airel. It alleges Airtel for using a network of nodes based abroad to offer its services on the latest Apple watch. Xiaomi Mi Selfie Stick Tripod and Mi Bluetooth Audio Receiver now available in India after successful crowdfunding

Xiaomi launched its Mi Crowdfunding in India last month with two products – Mi Selfie Stick Tripod and Mi Bluetooth Audio Receiver, to enable users support, buy and also help Xiaomi decide which products can be launched in India. At that time the company said that when 100% support is achieved within a stipulated timeline, a project will be considered successful for a specific product and it will be shipped to backers and will also be launched for others.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium, XA1 Ultra and XA1 Plus get a price cut in India

Sony today announced price cuts for its Xperia XZ Premium, XA1 Ultra and XA1 Plus smartphones in India. The Xperia XZ Premium that was launched in July last year is now available for Rs. 49,990, after a price cut of Rs. 10,000 from the launch price of Rs. 59,990.
