BlackBerry 10 QWERTY handset shows up

RIM’s upcoming BlackBerry 10 based devices are no secret and have shown up more than a few times. Today, we got a glimpse at what might be the first QWERTY equipped device running BlackBerry OS 10. Named the “BlackBerry X10”, the handset brings a Bold 9900 inspired design to the struggling smartphone manufacturer’s next generation line up.

Intex iBuddy Connect 7-inch tablet with Voice calling, Android 4.0 launched for Rs 7,990

Intex has launched the iBuddy Connect, a new 7-inch tablet in the iBuddy range. Most of the features are similar to the 7-inch i-Buddy tablet that was launched earlier this year, but this comes with a SIM card slot and supports voice calling features. It has a 7-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display and is powered by a 1 GHz processor. It runs on Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and comes with a 2MP rear camera other than the VGA front-facing camera. It also comes with pre-loaded apps such as Nimbuzz, Skype, Facebook, India Today and Aaj Tak. Huawei Ascend Mate with 6.1 inch 1080p screen spotted ahead of CES launch

Expected to be unveiled at CES in January, Huawei’s newest smartphone was shown off by Richard Yu. The Chairman of devices at Huawei flaunted the device at a store in Guangzhou yesterday. Called the Ascend Mate, the Android powered smartphone has a massive 6.1 inch 1080p screen with 361ppi.

Apple Releases ‘I’ll Be Home’ iPad mini Holiday Television Ad

Tonight, Apple released a new television ad featuring the iPad and the iPad mini with a young girl singing Bing Crosby’s “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” to her grandfather via FaceTime.

Nokia India launches Lumia Your Wish is my App contest

Nokia India, in association with NDTV has launched the Lumia Your Wish is my App contest along with the first ever app reality TV show. This would let you stand a chance to win Rs. 1 million by submitting an App idea for Lumia Smartphones. This contest would see 36 participants fight for the grand prize.  10 winners will be shortlisted, and and top 3 winning ideas would be developed into successful apps for the Windows Phone Marketplace. RIM and Nokia enter into patent licensing agreement

To resolve existing patent litigation between RIM and Nokia, the two companies have decided to enter into a licensing agreement. Nokia had previously demanded  a sales injunction on BlackBerry over the Finnish company’s patents around WiFi networks. While the specific terms of the agreement remain confidential, the financial structure will include a one time payment and on-going payments to Nokia.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.1.2 OTA update now rolling out in India

Samsung has started rolling out Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) update for the Galaxy Note 2 users in India. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 was launched in India back in September with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) out of the box, but got the Multi-Window or Multiscreen feature in a OTA update later. Samsung to show off 5.5-inch HD flexible smartphone display at CES 2013


Samsung Display would show off a 5.5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD Smartphone display with a pixel density of 267 PPI at CES 2013, according to a report from CNET. Samsung has patented the concept of foldable display in South Korea back in 2006, but they recently  acquired U.S patent for a foldable displays. Samsung unveiled a 4.5-inch (480 x 800 pixels) flexible AMOLED display with 207 PPI at CES 2011 that had a bending radius of 10 mm. Nokia Lumia 920 vs 808 Pureview vs Samsung Galaxy S3 Video Quality Comparison

We had just unboxed the Nokia Lumia 920 a few days back and are pleasantly surprised by its camera performance, especially in the video recording department. So, we gathered up two other phones(with point and shoot rivaling cameras) namely the Nokia 808 PureView and the Samsung Galaxy S3 from our labs and put the three to test in terms of full HD 1080p video recording. RIM announces Q3 earnings: $114 million net loss, $2.7 billion revenue, sales down 51% YoY

Blackberry manufacturer, RIM, today announced its third quarter earnings report. The company has reported losses of $114 million which is equivalent to $0.22 per share. Revenues were $2.7 billion during the quarter ending December 2012. The company has once again managed to beat analyst predictions who estimated losses to to the tune of $0.35 per share.

BlackBerry Z10 pictured in black, white in leaked marketing material

Another day and yet another image of the upcoming BlackBerry 10 based handset has turned up on the internet. Called the BlackBerry Z10, the company is expected to eschew using its traditional four digit model number naming scheme. The full touch smartphone will run the QNX based BB10 OS and is expected to be revealed on 30th January at an event in New York.

Karbonn Smart Tab 10 officially launched for Rs. 10,490

Karbonn has officially launched the Smart Tab 10 (Cosmic) in India that showed up on online retail site earlier this week. It has a 9.7-inch (1024 x 768 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core ARM Cortex A9 processor. It runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and comes with a 2MP rear  camera and a VGA front-facing camera.

Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 get software update in US and Canada, global roll out from February 2013


Nokia has started rolling out a new PR 1.1 software update for the Lumia 920 and the Lumia 820 in the US and Canada. This update would bring several enhancements including improved Bluetooth connectivity, faster start-up and better imaging and battery management. Samsung to fix Exynos 4 exploit with software update soon

A XDA member recently found an exploit in the Samsung devices powered by Exynos 4210 or a 4412 processors that would offer read/write access to the physical memory through malicious applications. Android Central now reports that they have received a official word from Samsung who have announced that they have acknowledged this issue and are working on a software fix that would roll out for these devices soon. Twitter for BlackBerry v4.0 update brings better navigation with new tabs

Twitter for BlackBerry has been updated to version 4.0 that brings new streamlined design and new tabs for better interaction. Connect tab shows you who retweeted, favorited and followed you, and also shows mentions. The Discover tab shows Trends, Who to follow suggestions and makes it easy to browse categories. The Me tab shows Messages, lists and favorited Tweets. These new tabs were available for Twitter for Android and iPhone last December.
