Even though the specifications of the device surfaced last week, the new screenshots confirm that the device would indeed come with a 6.4-inch 1080p display and powered by a Snapdragon 800 processor. Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 now available in India for Rs. 30990


Samsung launched the Galaxy Mega 6.3 (GT-I9200) in India at a price tag of Rs. 31,490 along with the Mega 5.8 last month. The Galaxy Mega 6.3 went on pre-order from online retailers last week, the phone is now available from those retailers. The official Samsung eStore is still taking pre-orders for the device. It has a 6.3-inch HD ( 1280 x 720 pixels) TFT capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.7 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). Microsoft almost bought Nokia’s phone business – WSJ

Wall Street Journal, the publication that is always bang on target with rumours and speculations reports that Microsoft recently held talks with Nokia to acquire its mobile phone business. The recently held meetings apparently broke down due to various reasons like price and market position. The most interesting thing is that these meetings were held recently and not a thing of the past. Recently there was a non-news that Huawei was planning to acquire Nokia and later completely denied it.

Google to open Android Nation Stores in India


Google would open their first Android Nation Store in New Delhi to promote and sell Android smartphones and tablets, according to a report from Economic Times. Google would partner with Spice Global to set up the stores in various Indian cities and the first store would open up in New Delhi’s Select Citywalk mall and the company is supposedly seeking a location the size of 1200 to 1500 square feet, the report says. Qualcomm announces new Snapdragon 200 dual-core and quad-core chips


Qualcomm has expanded the Snapdragon 200 line-up with new set of SoCs (System On Chip) with the new Adreno 302 GPU. Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 200 chip at the CES 2013 back in January and detailed the features of the 8225Q and 8625Q it in February. The new 8×10 and 8×12 processors have ARM Cortex A7 CPUs, based on 28nm process technology and has support for HSPA+ (up to 21Mbps) and TD-SCDMA. The 8610 and 8210 would have dual-core CPUs and the 8612 and 8212 would come with quad-core CPUs, all clocked at 1.2 GHz per core and Adreno 302 GPU. Qualcomm would also release Qualcomm Reference Design (QRD) versions of the processors. LG Electronics and Qualcomm Incorporated has announced that the next generation Optimus G successor in the Optimus line-up would be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor (MSM8974). Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 800 processor was announced at the CES 2013 earlier this year and the benchmarks of the Snapdragon 800 blows the other competitors out of water. LG was the first manufacturer to use the Snapdragon 600 chip on their Optimus G Pro that would launch in India soon. It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. It comes with dual SIM support with dual standby and DTS audio. HTC just introduced the successor to the Butterfly at an event in Taiwan. Called the Butterfly S, the handset looks very similar to the model it replaces. However, the phone has now been equipped with the same front facing BoomSound speakers as seen on the HTC One. The operating system too gets the HTC’s spanking new Sense 5 UI layer that we quite liked when we reviewed the One.

Nokia 301 Dual SIM phone now available in India for Rs. 5149


Nokia 301 that was announced earlier this year at the MWC 2013 is now available in India from online retailer Flipkart. It has a 2.4-inch  (320 x 240 pixels) display and runs on Series 40 OS. One of the main highlight of the device is its 3.2-megapixel rear camera with unique panorama, sequential shot which takes shots at 3-5 fps. Nvidia announces GPU licensing starting with Kepler, to compete with PowerVR

Nvidia, one of the world’s leading graphics providers, has announced that it will start licensing its GPU technology for other SoC manufacturers, starting with the Kepler series of GPUs. This move comes at a time when most smartphone manufacturers have moved away from Nvidia’s Tegra SoC, which was supposed to provide the much needed boost to the company’s flailing mobile portfolio. Nvidia Tegra, while good at games, lacked in raw performance and most importantly, battery life. Tegra chips were Nvidia’s SoC play at the mobile market, and now, like their core PC business, the Kepler based GPUs will be licensed to willing manufacturers.
