Samsung Galaxy Note 3 event reportedly scheduled for September 4th

Samsung Galaxy Note 3, the third Galaxy Note phablet in the series is the most expected device after the Galaxy S4. Back in March there were reports that the Galaxy Note 3 would launch at IFA next month since all the other Galaxy Note devices were unveiled at IFA. A Korean website, Daum reports that the Galaxy Note 3 would be unveiled in a event on September 4th in Germany, couple of days before the IFA starts. Micromax Canvas 4 vs Karbonn S5 Titanium
Karbonn and Micromax have been fighting to get the top spot in the mid-range phablet market in India. Micromax are with their fourth Canvas phone – the Canvas 4 while Karbonn are struggling to establish a single series and they have a very able Karbonn S5 Titanium.

The Canvas 4 was launched in July while the Karbonn S5 Titanium was released back in May. Both the devices have quite a lot of differences starting right from their internals with the Micromax Canvas 4 being powered by MediaTek’s Quad-core processor while Karbonn S5 Titanium is powered by a quad-core processor from Qualcomm. Both the devices also have different price points with the Canvas 4 on the higher mid-range while the S5 Titanium falls into the low mid-range category.

iBall has launched the Andi 5h, the company’s latest smartphone in the Andi series. The phone has a 5-inch qHD (960 × 540 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). Google Chromecast Unboxing and Demo

Google launched the Chromecast last week and we already managed to get hold of this interesting device on FoneArena. So what does a Chromecast do ? It is basically a dongle for your TV which lets you watch online video and more on your large screen TV. You can watch Youtube , Netflix , Google Play movies and your Chrome brower tab on your large screen TV using this tiny little dongle which connects to it using the standard HDMI socket.Most modern TVs would draw power from the HDMI itself but certain older ones like mine would require external power. Nice that Google has decided to include a HDMI extender and also a power solution in the box. Watch the unboxing and a short demo in the video below

Sony Xperia Honami new images and camera UI leaks out

Sony Xperia Honami is expected to be the company’s next flagship model and the distinguishing feature on this device is expected to be its 20MP camera. A live picture of the Honami’s camera UI has leaked on the internet along with fresh images of the device. Rumors of the 20-megapixel camera phone surfaced back in April. BlackBerry Messenger for Android shows up online in leaked images
BlackBerry had announced it’s intentions to introduce its wildly popular messenger service to the Android and iOS platforms earlier this year. We’ve been hearing rumors of a late summer release and if our sources are to be trusted, the application will see a release in the coming weeks on both the platforms. Ahead of the release, screenshots from the Android build of the application have been leaked online.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra gets its first software update

Sony Mobile has started rolling out the first firmware update v14.1.B.0.471 for the recently launched Xperia Z Ultra (C6802). The stock firmware is 14.1.B.0.461, so this might be a minor change. The baseband version and the kernel version has a minor change. The new firmware has a build date of July 19th. There is no changelog so this might be a an update to fix some bugs and improve the performance of the device. We did not notice any changes or any new apps on the device after the update. Sony’s Q1 FY13 results out, mobile sales increase by 36% YoY

Looks like Sony is back in the game, especially in mobile! The Japanese company has just reported its first quarter FY 2013 results and has beaten expectations set by analysts. The increased performance is due to, you guessed right, its mobile division. While it posted huge operating losses last year, the division has gained 36% YoY, posting an operating income of 60 million USD. The company’s overall net profits stand at a small 35 million USD, which is not huge by any means, but posting profits after struggling for the past year should be encouraging for the consumer electronics giant.

Lava Iris 356 and the Iris 402 that appeared on the official website earlier this week are now available from online retailer Flipkart. The Iris 356 has a 3.5-inch (480 x 320 pixels) display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). The Lava Iris 402 packs a 4-inch (480 x 800 pixels) display. Other features are similar to the Iris 402. These have 3G support, Dual SIM with dual standby, rear and front-facing cameras. It’s been long rumoured that Nokia is launching a Windows tablet, and that might actually come true if the recent leaks are to be believed. Windows Phone Central reports that Nokia is having a launch event in New York on September 26th and 27th spanning two days, for a rumoured tablet announcement. The above image is a screenshot of a purported event invite that is doing the rounds internally. Is this actually the Nokia World event this year? Quite possibly.
