Apple seems to value the Indian market relatively more than it used to in the past and this is evident from the fact that it has launched its latest iteration of iPhones and iPads quite soon in India. The latest iPad Mini is also currently available in India. iPad Mini with Retina Display belies its changed internals with a similar build aesthetic as that of its predecessor.
We finally got our hands on the second generation iPad Mini which is also known as the iPad Mini with Retina Display and here is our unboxing which also features the first gen iPad mini and the all new iPad Air alongside for a quick comparison. Find the video below. The iPad mini 2 and the iPad Air went on sale in India on December 7. The iPad mini with Retina Display starts from Rs.28,900 for the base 16GB WiFi only version and the version we are unboxing is the 32GB WiFi+Cellular version which costs Rs.44900. The mini uses a nano SIM card just like the iPad Air and the iPhone 5s and 5c. For the first time there is a 128GB version too on sale costing a massive 49,900 for the WiFi only version and Rs.58,900 for the WiFi+ Cellular version.
Apple has just announced that the much anticipated iPad Air would be going on sale in India on December 7th at a Maximum Retail Price of Rs.35,900 for the base 16GB WiFi only version. The iPad mini with Retina display is also launching in India for Rs.28900 for the base 16GB WiFi only version. There is no news about the Cellular/3G versions as of now but they might go on sale at a later date. The new iPads would be available in Silver and Space Gray colours. Decent pricing considering that 1 USD is trading for almost Rs.62 currently. The same iPad Air would cost around Rs.34000 in the US and the iPad mini Retina would cost Rs.27000 approximately.
Samsung and Apple might be involved in a lot of patent cases, but their partnership continues to flourish. Samsung is tipped to be the provider of the retina display for next generation iPad mini that is rumored to arrive by the end of this year.
