Sony Corporation has reported its revenues for the second quarter of the financial year 2016 that ended September 30, 2016. Sales decreased by 7.1% to o 2,397.5 billion yen (US$ 20,668 million) compared to the same quarter last year. Operating income decreased 109.8 billion yen (US$ 796 million) mainly due to the 962 million U.S. dollars (112.1 billion yen) impairment charge of goodwill recorded in the Pictures segment. Sony Mobile will reportedly follow Apple, Samsung and Huawei to develop its own mobile processor for its Xperia smartphones, according to a report from DigiTimes. The report also says that LG will also introduce its own processor. LG NUCLUN 2 processor was already spotted on GeekBench few months back, confirming its existence, after the company’s failed attempt with the Odin chipset. Looks like Sony is back in the game, especially in mobile! The Japanese company has just reported its first quarter FY 2013 results and has beaten expectations set by analysts. The increased performance is due to, you guessed right, its mobile division. While it posted huge operating losses last year, the division has gained 36% YoY, posting an operating income of 60 million USD. The company’s overall net profits stand at a small 35 million USD, which is not huge by any means, but posting profits after struggling for the past year should be encouraging for the consumer electronics giant.

Sony Mobile has started sending invites for a press event in Germany on 25th. The German translation says “Looking for More?” “It is time for the next step. On Tuesday, the 25th June 2013 15:00 we take a first look at the future together.” “More details will follow soon.” We don’t anything more than that, so we can only speculate on what the company will unveil at the event. It might be the Togari with a 6.4-inch 1080p display, or the Honami the rumored Cyber-shot camera phone or a completely new device.
