The Nokia Lumia 520 just launched a couple of weeks back, marking the entry of the cheapest Windows Phone 8 device in the Indian market. We reviewed it recently and found it to be quite nice for the price. Talking of the price, one could actually spend a couple more thousands and get the Lumia 620 instead, but is it the right thing to do and is it worth the extra spend? Which one should you buy then? Nokia has announced the Asha 210, the company’s new phone in the Asha series with a dedicated WhatsApp button. This is the world’s first phone to have a dedicated WhatsApp button. Nokia released the Asha 205, a QWERTY phone with a dedicated button to access Facebook. It has a 2.4-inch (240 x 320 pixels) 65k color display, a QWERTY keyboard. It has Slam feature to share multimedia content like photos, music and videos with nearby friends instantly. It has a 2MP rear camera with dedicated camera key. It has Self-portrait and option to share photos easily straight from the camera application to your social networks.

These apps ofer Disney UTV’s content across Movies, Television, Hollywood and English content.  All these apps have crossed the 15 million download mark in their test phase itself. Over 2.5 million devices Nokia Asha series phones come pre-loaded with the UTV App. These apps offer on-the-go video streaming apps work even on low-bandwidth GPRS networks. Nokia teases new Asha devices, to be launched on April 24th

It has been a while since Nokia launched new devices in its Asha range of low to mid range priced mobile phones. Last time we saw cheap phones from Nokia was at the Mobile World Congress in which they announced the Nokia 301 and the Nokia 105, which were surprisingly not part of the Asha range. It was not surprising to think that may be Nokia is going for full touch for its Asha brand exclusively, especially with the success for devices like the Asha 311. With Android devices completely eroding Nokia’s marketshare at the low end, they desperately need a refresh, and the above image suggests that Nokia will be gearing up for a new wave of Asha devices starting April 24th.

Nokia Lumia 928 with Xenon flash new press image surfaces

First press image of the Nokia Lumia 928 for Verizon USA surfaced earlier this month. Now a new render of the phone has surfaced from the same source, evleaks. The Nokia Lumia 928, a Lumia 920 rumored under the codename Laser would have a Xenon Flash along with an LED flash similar to the Nokia 808 PureView. The new image looks a bit polished and the phone looks thicker than the Lumia 920 as you can see in the render. This is obvious since the Xenon flash module would be larger than the LED flash. Nokia ships 5.6 million Lumia smartphones in Q1 2013

As part of its quarterly earnings report, Nokia has revealed its device shipments for the 1st quarter of 2013. Reporting an operating loss of $150 million, the Finnish smartphone manufacturer has declared 30% lower shipments. Nokia to launch a phablet in 2013, Lumia with 41MP camera coming in July, says The FT

Nokia is working on a large sized phablet that would launch later this year, according to a recent report from The Financial Times. The report also says that Nokia plans to launch a Lumia PureView device equipped with a 41MP sensor similar to the Nokia 808 is expected to come in July. Nokia Catwalk with aluminium body images surface

First alleged images of the Nokia’s upcoming Windows Phone device codenamed Catwalk has surfaced online. This would be a follow up to the Lumia 920, but it would reportedly come with a aluminium body, making it thinner and lighter than the Lumia 920. Specifications of the device surfaced earlier this month. Renders of the Lumia 928 codename Laser with Xenon Flash for Verizon USA surfaced earlier this month.

Nokia Lumia 520 Review

For users looking at smartphones in the budget segment, clunky and underpowered Android phones have been the only option till now. Sure, Nokia had a few Windows Phone 7 devices too but the OS was half baked and it was pretty hard to recommend them to users.

While Nokia has primarily pushed its Asha range or the older Lumia 510 in the budget segment, the launch of the Lumia 520 at Mobile World Congress means that they now have a solid smartphone contender in the category. Nokia Lumia 720 up for pre-order on Flipkart for Rs. 18999

Nokia launched the Lumia 720 in India last month along with the Lumia 520. The Lumia 520 went on sale earlier this month. Online retailer Flipkart has put up the Lumia 720 for pre-order at a price tag of Rs. 18,999.  It was listed on Flipkart for Rs. 18,499 on Friday, but Flipkart changed the price of the device to Rs. 18,999 yesterday.  The Lumia 720 was unveiled at the MWC 2013 back in February along with the Lumia 520. Nokia Lumia 620 Review

Since the Windows Phone 8 reboot, Nokia has so far launched five devices, with the Lumia 920 and the Lumia 820 launching way back in September 2012, then the Nokia Lumia 620 at LeWeb, and the Nokia Lumia 720 and Lumia 520 at the Mobile World Congress. The portfolio of devices cover almost all the price points of the market, and the Lumia 620 is in that special mid range segment. Same time last year, Nokia had the Lumia 610 as the predecessor to the 620, but the hardware was so lacking(with 256MB of RAM) and Windows Phone 7 was not really up to the mark in terms of market expectations. Fast forward to this year, Windows Phone 8 brings a lot of features and ticks check boxes of most requested features including Bluetooth file transfer, mass storage, support for micro SD cards, NFC tap to send etc and the hardware too has gained some decent specs, with respect to the Lumia 620. Nokia Lumia 720 gets listed on Flipkart at Rs. 18999


Nokia launched the Lumia 720 in India last month along with the Lumia 520.  The Lumia 520 went on sale from retail stores last week. Now, online retailer Flipkart has listed the Lumia 720 on their website for Rs. 18,500 Rs. 18,999. The Lumia 720 was unveiled at the MWC 2013 last month along with the Lumia 520. It has a 4.3-inch  (800 x 480 pixels) ClearBlack display, powered by a 1 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8227 processor and runs on the latest Windows Phone 8 OS. It has a 6.7-megapixel auto focus camera at the back with LED Flash, Carl Zeiss optics and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Nokia 105 launched in India for Rs. 1249

Nokia has launched the 105, an affordable entry-level phone in India as we reported last week.  The Nokia 105 was announced at the MWC 2013 back in February, and would replace the Nokia 1280. It has a 1.45-inch (128 x 128 pixels) 65k Colour TFT Display, has FM Radio support and comes with Nokia Life which sold more than 100 million units in its lifetime.  The Nokia 105 is based on Nokia’s Series 30 platform similar to the Nokia 100 and 101 affordable entry-level phones that were launched in India last year. It has dust-and splash-proof keypad and offers up to 12.5 hours of talk time and up to 35 days of standby. Nokia Lumia 521 headed to T-Mobile USA

Nokia has announced the Lumia 521 exclusively for the T-Mobile USA. It features a 4-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8227 processor and runs on the latest Windows Phone 8 OS. It has a 5MP auto focus camera at the back with 720p HD video recording. The phone is identical to the Lumia 520 in terms of hardware, but supports 4G on T-Mobile and has the carrier branding on the bottom.
