HUAWEI Mate Xs 2 with 7.8″ OLED foldable 120Hz display, stylus support announced

HUAWEI has announced the Mate Xs 2, a new foldable phone and the successor to the  Mate Xs in China. It has a 7.8-inch foldable 120Hz OLED panel, and in unfolded state it is 6.5 inches 120Hz and 240Hz, respectively. It is just 5.4mm at its thinnest point, same as the predecessor, and uses the same patented “Eagle Wing” steel hinge. HUAWEI says that the flold is 70% better than that of the Xs, and has improved anti-drop, impact, and extrusion capabilities. Samsung has reported its earnings for Q1 2022 that ended March 31, 2022 in which the company posted 77.78 trillion won ($61.2 billion approx.) consolidated revenue, up 18.94% YoY which is a new record for the third consecutive quarter. Qualcomm’s custom Nuvia processors for Windows PCs now expected in late 2023

Qualcomm purchased Nuvia in July 2021, which is a company that used to specialize CPU and technology design. At the Investor Day 2021 in November, the company said that it will start building its own chips for laptops in 2022. Today, during its earnings call, Qualcomm’s President and CEO Cristiano Amon confirmed that the company is still working on its own chips.
