Telecom minister: India 5G spectrum auction in June

The Indian government is expected to undertake a 5G spectrum auction in early June, according to telecom minister. The minister stated that the Department of Telecom is on track to meet its deadlines and that the process to alleviate industry concerns about spectrum pricing is underway. DoT approves Jio, Airtel, Vi and MTNL for 5G trials; Chinese vendors not allowed

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has permitted Telecom Service Providers (TSPs), including Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio Infocomm, Vodafone Idea, and MTNL, to conduct 5G trials in the country. These companies will tie up with original equipment manufacturers and technology providers — Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung and Development of Telematics (C-DoT). India 5G trials to begin in January-March 2020: Report

India is going to be one step closer to having full 5G rollouts nationwide the government is looking into 5G trials by the end of this fiscal year, according to a report. Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has also confirmed that the auction for 5G airwaves will be held in April -March.
