ET is reporting that the Operators in India have been fined over 42 crores so far for flouting Subscriber Verification norms when issuing new SIM Cards. This is basically to discourage operators from issuing new connections based on Fake Identity.

Blackberry Curve 8520 : China, Russia calling

It seems RIM is leaving no stone unturned to capitalize on the phenomenon called Blackberry. After announcing higher than expected Q3 2009 Revenue, RIM has announced its plans for other major markets in China and Russia with new handset launch and reduced price plans.

In both the markets RIM is introducing the new slim Blackberry Curve 8520. Apart from being a quad-band EDGE phone with dedicated multimedia keys and excellent social networking tools, the phone features a highly tactile full QWERTY keyboard for comfortable, accurate typing. The phone is WiFi enabled with 4.5 Hours talktime and 17 days standby.

RIM sold 10 million Blackberries in Q3 2009

Good news from Blackberry maker RIM today as they announced higher than expected revenue for the quarter ended November 2009. They have sold 10 million Blackberries in one single quarter which is amazing considering the economic climate. MNP might be delayed by few months as Operators are not Ready in India

BS is reporting that the hugely awaited MNP or Mobile Number Portability which lets you retain your mobile number while switching your operator might be delayed even upto 3 months as some operators including BSNL and MTNL are not ready to offer the service. TRAI had earlier fixed the porting fee at Rs.19 only and looking at the comments in our post , looks like a lot of users are waiting to ditch their operator.
