As the uptake of smartphones with built-in GPS receiver increases, so are people’s reliance to using their smartphone as a car navigation solution. These days even a cheap Android smartphone is more than capable of handling all sorts of navigational duties in a motor vehicle. All you need is a car mount.

The problem with universal car mounts are there aren’t all that reliable. A one size fit all solution doesn’t necessarily mean it’s good. From my experience with universal car mounts, they are either flimsy or can’t be mounted on any surfaces. Enters Exogear with their Exomount universal car mount to prove me wrong. Motorola Droid Bionic release date revealed in teaser video

BlackBerry Torch 2 hits pre-order in UK, free on contract

Last month, Canadian mobile phone manufacturer Research In Motion launched few new BlackBerry handsets in London. BlackBerry 9810 a.k.a Torch 2 was also announced back then and it’s a successor to BB Torch which is also a very famous BlackBerry handset. Apple iPhone 5 hitting BestBuy next month, Sprint also carrying it

Launch of the next Apple flagship smartphone is around the corner which will be known as iPhone 5. Well, there’s a little confusion that Apple will be launching two new smartphones sooner or later, one will be known as the iPhone 5 and the other one will be iPhone 4S. We recently heard that Apple is working on a 8GB version of iPhone 4 and it could be the low-end iPhone we are hearing about, also there will be some changes in it like there will be plastic on front and backside instead of glass, anyway let’s wait for Apple to clear the air. Intel to discontinue MeeGo development ? Not so fast !

Rumors are rife that Intel plans to discontinue MeeGo development following the rather tepid market response to hardware based on fledgling OS. Digitimes reports that Intel is planning to “temporarily discontinue development of its MeeGo OS” . If Intel backs down from the OS it would mean the end of the linux based operating system from a commercial point of view and would be relegated to being a hobbyist OS at best.

Philips Xenium X806 Dual SIM Phone launching in India on Sep 7

Heard of Philips Mobile Phones ? They were available quite a while ago and we have not heard from them in a while now. The Xenium range of phones are popular in Europe and Russia for their exceptional battery life. Looks like the company is making a comeback into India or at least testing the waters again as we got an invited to a launch event happening on September 7th.Interestingly the invite comes from Conplex Telecom India. From the looks of the phone in the invite we are placing our bets on the Xenium X806 which is a Dual SIM phone with 1 month standby time and around 8 hours of talk time. Samsung brings ‘Pure Breeze’ launcher to Android

Samsung labs have just released a new launcher app for Android based phones. Called ‘Pure Breeze’ the app replaces the default homescreen and allows users to organize their apps, groups, and tasks, and create shortcuts.

HTC Runnymede 2 to offer Beats Audio ?

A new HTC handset has appeared in the rumor mills which suggest that the Android based smartphone will sport a 4.7″ display. Other specifications include a 1.5Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 processor. 16GB – 32GB of storage can be expected in the handset alongside support for SRS Surround Sound. An 8MP camera capable of capturing 720p video is expected to be found on the back of the device.
