After several delays, Samsung has finally launched the Bixby Voice assistant in U.S. English for Galaxy S8 and S8+ users in the United States and Korea. The Samsung Galaxy S8 series phones come with dedicated Bixby hardware button that lets you access Bixby Voice by pressing and holding it. Samsung started mass production of industry’s first 4-gigabyte (GB) DRAM package based on the second-generation High Bandwidth Memory (HBM2) interface back in January last year. Later it unveiled 8-gigabyte (GB) DRAM which has double the capacity of 4GB HBM2. Today it has announced that it is ramping up production of 8GB HBM2 to meet the growing market across artificial intelligence, HPC (high-performance computing), advanced graphics, network systems and enterprise servers. Samsung has tied up with PayPal to add PayPal as a payment method in Samsung Pay – in-app, online and in-store. Additionally, Samsung Pay will be available via Braintree Direct, allowing merchants to accept Samsung Pay as a payment method. Back in March Samsung said that it will sell returned Galaxy Note7 devices as refurbished phones, and it even launched the Galaxy Note Fan Edition that uses components such as semiconductors and camera modules from the Note7. It already confirmed that it will extract precious metals, such as copper, nickel, gold and silver from the phone.

Samsung has launched Galaxy On Max, its latest smartphone in the ‘On Series’. It has almost the same specifications as the Galaxy J7 Max that was launched recently, including a 5.7-inch 1080p display, Octa-Core MediaTek Helio P25 Lite SoC, Android 7.0 (Nougat), 13MP front and rear cameras with LED flash, fingerprint sensor on the front and Samsung Pay Mini for UPI and Paytm Payments, but this doesn’t have Smart Glow light around the camera. Samsung launched 6GB RAM with 128GB storage version of the Galaxy S8+ smartphone in India last month for Rs. 74,900, about Rs. 10,000 more than the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage version of the phone. According to Mumbai-based retailer Mahesh Telecom, the phone has received a Rs. 4000 price cut, in just a month of launch. Samsung has posted its earnings guidance for the second quarter of 2017, which reveals that it will post an all time high 13.9 ~ 14.1 trillion Korean won (US$12.1 billion approx.) in operating profits for the quarter, 72% up from a year earlier. This will beat the 10.16 trillion won (~US$9.6 billion) that it posted back in Q3 2013. Last quarter it posted operating profit of 9.9 trillion won (about $8.7 billion) on revenue of 50.55 trillion won.
