Lenovo has revealed its latest smartphone running an Intel chip over at CES in Las Vegas. The Lenovo K900 runs on the Clovertrail + platform with the specific chip speculated to be an Atom Z2580 clocked at 2Ghz. The smartphone is equipped with a 5.5 inch 1080p IPS display presumably manufactured by Sharp. There is 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage which can be further expanded via the microSD card slot.

Nokia Lumia 920 and the Lumia 820 has been priced at Rs. 36999 and Rs. 26999, respectively on online retail site Flipkart. Both these devices were announced announced last September. RockChip, a popular Chinese chip manufacturer has announced the launch of RK3188, their new quad-core chip at the CES 2013. It is based on ARM Cortex-A9 architecture and is built on 28nm HKMG (High-K Metal Gate) process that would offer less power consumption and better performance. It also has 533MHz Mali-400 MP4 GPU with OpenGL ES 1.1/2.0 and OpenVG 1.1 support for gaming. MediaTek launched the MT6589, their first quad-core processor last month that is also based on 28nm process, but it is based on Cortex A7 architecture. Huawei has finally announced the Ascend W1, the company’s first Windows Phone 8 device. This has a 4-inch (800 x 480 pixels) WVGA IPS LCD display with OGS Technology that reduces the light consumption to make the screen brighter and more vivid, 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with Adreno 305 GPU. It has a 5 MP auto focus camera at the back with LED flash and a 0.3 MP front-facing camera. It has a 1950 mAh battery with unique power saving technology to save 30% of power. Imagination technologies, the company behind the Power VR range of mobile GPUs, have announced the PowerVR series 6 GPU at the International Consumer electronics show in Las Vegas. The series 6 has not been unveiled entirely, as the demo unit at the company’s booth itself is a FPGA board with limited 1Gbps bandwidth, which is supposedly one tenth of the GPU’s actual performance numbers.

ZTE just revealed its latest smartphone, the Grand S at CES. Equipped with a 5inch 1080p display which is fast becoming the norm in high end handsets, the phone runs on a 1.7Ghz Snapdragon S4 Pro chip. The OS of choice here is Android 4.1 JellyBean. A 13MP camera is found over at the back which is capable of recording video in 1080p. A 2MP camera is located at the front for video conferencing.
Internal specs also include 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built in storage which can be further expanded with a microSD card. The handset is particularly thin and measures just 6.9mm. Making a handset that thin means that the company had to make sacrifices and the battery life suffers. We’re not sure how well the 1780 mAh battery will be able to keep up with that high resolution display. We’ll be bringing you our hands on impressions with the ZTE Grand S shortly.

The company launched the XPAD X-720, their first tablet with a 7-inch display in India last month. The XPAD X-801 has a 8-inch (800 x 600 pixels) capacitive multi-touch display, 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor, Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Polaroid has announced iM1836, the first interchangeable lens (mirrorless) Android camera at CES 2013, produced by Sakar International. It has a 18.1 megapixel sensor and comes with interchangable 10-30mm optical zoom lens and also accepts micro Four Thirds system lenses in other mirrorless cameras. It ha a 7-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) capacitive multi-touch display and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Mediatek MT 8317T processor. The Economic Times reports that there’s a tax raid going on at Nokia India’s plant at Sriperumbudur near Chennai. The team of tax officials are conducting investigations at the plant as well the Finnish company’s offices in Chennai. Officials suspect tax evasion to the tune of Rs. 3000 crore.
Huawei unveiled the Ascend Mate along with the Ascend D2 earlier today at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2013. The Ascend Mate has a 6.1-inch 720p display unlike the Ascend D2 that has a 5-inch 1080p display. But the Ascend Mate has a 1.5 GHz quad-core Hi-Silicon K3V2 processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) similar to the D2.
